Do you believe Buie about the bench. I'm not saying he should criticize his teammates, but "great bench" isn't accurate.

"“It really is up to us. We've got a great team. It's not just the starting five. We've got a great bench. … He believes in us so much. We believe in him.”

Here's a comparison where the starters are better than the bench in nine of twelve categories, and the bench is better at steals and blocks which are lower numbers than points, rebounds, and assists:

Two-point percentage: Starters 367/733 = .501, Bench 55/118 = .466
Three-point percentage: Starters 142/391 = .363, Bench 20/81 = .247
Field goal percentage: Starters 509/1,124 = .453, Bench 75/199 = .377
Adjusted field goal percentage where made threes count as 1.5: Starters 580/1,124 = .516, Bench 85/199 = .427
Free throw percentage: Starters 318/403 = .789, Bench 23/40 = .575
*Rebounds per 200 minutes excluding 61 team rebounds: Starters: 31.21, Bench 39.15
Assists per 200 minutes: Starters 12.99, Bench 6.64
*Steals per 200 minutes: Starters 6.92, Bench 7.35
*Blocks per 200 minutes: Starters 1.24, Bench 4.74
Fouls per 200 minutes: Starters 12.59, Bench 24.44
Turnovers per 200 minutes excluding 6 team turnovers: Starters 11.25, Bench 11.63
Assist-to-turnover ratio: Starters: Exactly 1.085 (the denominator is 200 so rather than rounding I gave it as exact to three decimal places), Bench .57 (exactly 4/7ths)

The starters have played 3,557 minutes (80.84 percent), and the bench has played 843 minutes (19.16 percent and 38.32 per game). Since we haven't played overtime, we've played 200 minutes per game, so minutes per game is exactly double minutes percent.

That was a great read, and very cool to see HU Hoops on Forbes, kudos for getting that done

These guys work hard, never a question in my book. But they have to finish the job if they want the full respect.

And Buie is just being a great teammate and leader Evan, all good 8-)

Just to tie this in to the latest Mid Major Top 25 poll last done on Monday 2/10 Stephen Austin 21-3 is ranked 9th, Vermont 19-6 is ranked 13th and we're ranked 21st moving up from 24th. Last year I know there was a time we were ranked in the top 5 in this poll when we were on the consecutive win streak. Three other CAA teams have received votes Delaware 6, W&M 5 and COC 4. Once ahead of us in this poll Stony Brook now has only received 1 vote.

CAA has ZERO respect this year - and it truthfully doesn't deserve it as I and a few others have noted - this conf is quite average, it's just a bunch of very even teams that make it brutal to land the 1 stinking bid every yr. That 'toughness' makes it seem to some like it's great - it isn't. And hasn't been since the actual power teams left.

I do think the CAA has strong individual talent though, as is seen / proven every year with the kids that have a pro future of some kind, and the amount of P5 transfers from teams in this league.

It's just not a very good conference overall right now, and hasn't had a nationally relevant exciting NCAAT run in quite some time.

And it has one of the worst commissioners / front offices around. Should all be canned... wouldn't even notice. That's how little they do to promote and progress this league.

Can't believe I actually miss the blatant VA bias of ol Yeager. But at least that guy did his friggin job.

https://theathletic.com/1612731/2020/02 ... ed-article is from The Athletic, which charges to read it. I'll copy the paragraph about us:

"Hofstra has won six straight to claim first place in the Colonial Athletic. The Pride have won nine true road games, including a Nov. 21 victory at UCLA. They are 47-15 since the start of last season, and with a talented senior backcourt of Eli Pemberton and Desure Buie, they could be a tough first-round matchup should they make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001."

The last mid-major poll done yesterday has us moved up from 21 to 15. What a difference a week makes and apparently you are only as good as your last game(s). Yale 5 and Colgate 24. Other CAA teams getting votes W&M 10 and Delaware 6.

Yale is 57th in the NET. Their 6 losses are to teams with an average NET of 90.2. Their last game was a loss at Number 149 Penn, which is their worst loss but still to a team in the Top 150 of 353. Colgate is 114th in the NET with 7 losses, and their last 4 losses were much worse than any of Yale's. They lost at Niagara (291st), were swept by Lafayette (204th), and lost their last game at Loyola-Maryland (245th). I'm not checking other teams to say where Yale and Colgate should be ranked, but it's obvious that Yale is better. Yale is 49th in KenPom, and a couple of teams in top conferences with a worse NET and KenPom than Yale could get at-large bids.

We've moved up 2 spots and are now 13 in the latest mid-major poll. Vermont is 15 and Colgate is 22. W&M received 23 votes while Delaware got 1.

I heard a promotion for the game today on WFAN. I don't know if it had been playing previously but mentioned that we are currently in 1st place in the CAA.

Good story in today's NY Post. Unlike with Newsday, Hofstra gets the lead.

Good story!

Our coverage in Newsday has been pathetic, and it's like they taunt us with their Stony Brook coverage; we just have to be undeniable and win it all.

YEP - force their biased hand - trust me, when HU dances they will jump all over it purely for the eyeballs and act like they've been their from day 1.

They're a joke, and personally I've blackballed them from quite some time ago (couple of years due to their clear HU bias) - I refuse to support them, and I don't bother to read an ounce of their stuff. When I see proper treatment of this U then I may come back around.
