Columbia won the CIT. I realize that's not a major accomplishment (then again, better than losing in the CIT...), but at least shows they are on the upswing.

as of now our roster is fairly balanced - assuming no one transfers or gets unexpectedly stuck in their homeland
PG - Buie, Powers
SG - Bernardi, JFW
SF - Robinson, Pemberton
PF - Green, Sabaty
C - Gustys, Walker
wonder if they'd ever RS Walker - as Robinson did after his So year - as of now, along with Robinson, we lose ALL of our PF's/C's (Green, Sabaty, Gustys, Walker) after 2018 - it didn't hurt our team this year having a mature Green, Tanksley and Koon and think that might not be the worst thing for Walker as playing behind Gustys for 2 more years isn't going to you many minutes

Probably depends what happens with the three scholarships we have left. I could see them probably looking to redshirt a freshmen or two.

Aaron Augustin, the Georgia PG who has stated he
wants to take a visit to HU, will be playing in the Dick's Sporting Goods HS Nationals at CTK here in Queens starting tomorrow with his 30-2 Miller Grove team - his backcourt starting teammate is 5* UConn signee Alterique Gilbert (GA Gatorade POY, #1 player in GA, top 30 in nation) - Augustine is a 3* top 20 state player, and considered the 2nd best true PG in the state behind Gilbert lol - pretty cool - in the state champ game both had great similar games playing well off each other, Gilbert with 15pts 4assists, and Augustin with 16pts 4 assists

- they play Findlay Prep tomorrow @6pm, all games on one of the ESPN tv networks ESPN, 2, or the U
http://www.dicksnationaltournament.com/
I
hope, and I would bet, the HU staff/players will be in attendance (esp Buie who can relate and help with his recruitment, and RG to watch his alma mater Oak Hill play) - really interesting to me that he and Gilbert play together (same position, same size)... could be a great dual-PG scenario at HU with Buie should JM want to throw that lineup at opponents down the road - nice to see stud players like that open and willing to share the shine - great quality
Wouldn't it be something to land back-to-back star PG's starting for their top HS squads in the national championships?! I would take that
all day long
I really hope he's visiting while he's up here after the event is over... would be fantastic to land this young man ahead of Fords visit next weekend - state of GA could be in the HU house!
If anyone has insight, do share!!

UNC uses 2 PG simultaneously a lot, or most of the time, why not?

Our own women's team often time played with 2 PGs simultaneously, when both Krystal Luciano and Darius Faulk were on the court together. It was pretty successful for the most part. JAM watched the women's games when he was on campus for them, maybe he took note of that strategy.

When teams press you its always good to have multiple players on the court to help break the press. Some of these guards are more of combo guards who can put up 15 plus points per game. Even in our AE days we had Jason Hernandez and Speedy Claxton on the court the same time. Loren Stokes and Carlos Rivera. Most recently JuanYa Green and Dion Nesmith.

Joe has already said that no teams can press us with the two jets e already have at pg...not opposed to another stud at that position but I would like to see us land one or two sfs or bigs

Def agree, the PG spot is set for next season thankfully - but with Powers here for just 1 yr, Buie is going to need help/backup - to me, HU needs to bring in 1 either PG or CG in this class, ideally to redshirt and get acclimated - I'm open to type of player, but do think they need 1 on the sidelines in prep to step in the following season
If HU can land a guard like Augustin, or Bob, or a Brown, etc. I am very much in favor
With you 100% that I think another needs to be for a real PF - depending on the game plan, that player could potentially also redshirt if it's a young one - other option would be to bring in one of the gazillion quality transfers hitting the market each day (either a sit-out guy or a 5th yr immediate player)
Thing is, I'm not sure the staff is of that mindset with the PF spot - I have seen and heard nothing in that department - do we even have an offer out to a '16 PF? Not a WF, but a PF? Is there any interest in one? I've not gotten that impression...
I'm wondering if HU is looking to bring in a WF and a WG
Either way another big time impact stretch 4 is still #1 priority - big couple of weeks on the recruiting front here!
P.S. The annual Iona transfer season has begun! LOL - Severe committed yesterday I believe - loved Braziller the other day tweeting he could see this coming a mile away... so true - I'm sure there will be a few more with a background question or two that 'somehow'
magically find their way to the Bronx - when anyone can enter at any time for any reason, it's like fishing in a stocked bathtub
As much as we have noted his talent, it's also been noted he is not the right 'fit' for HU's revised culture/character foundation - I love Iona's success and post-season play, God bless them, BUT I have no desire to run the
type of program they have.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for 2nd chances, no one is perfect, and HU is also open to take in impact transfers/5th yrs/JUCO's - it's a key recruiting piece to mid-major success IMO - but it just seems...I don't know, "off" over there...
HU's been down that risky/take a flier player road before, want NO part of it anymore. Quality people = quality program = long term success.
STUDENT. ATHLETE. CITIZEN. That is the way it should be, and I am glad that is the JM way. #PRIDEDONERIGHT

Arizona transfer Justin Simon is considering Hofstra, IU, LMU, LVille, Miami, NM, OU, PC, St John's, Texas, & Nova, source told @CBSSports.
Nice group of schools to be considered along with! That actually says a lot about the program if we're in the mix with so many successful power conference schools.
He's leaving because he wants more playing time and a bigger role on the team. That's exactly what he would get at Hofstra, maybe not so much at the other schools on his list.

This is a really interesting one! 4-star recruit who seems to be able to play the 1 or the 2-- big guard for either position at our level. Still majorly developing on the offensive end, but just a ton of potential and a type of athlete/recruit HU wouldn't normally see straight from HS. We'd still have 3 years of eligibility on him after he sits out a year...
At first, it's great to see us on that list of schools. Then, it's a bit depressing, because one's first thought is we have an uphill battle for consideration among that group. HOWEVER, I think this tweet has a lot of truth to it...
@Gabe_Encinas
Justin Simon left for minutes so cross off Indiana, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma, Providence, St. John's, Texas, Nova
However, just because we all don't think it would make sense to go to any of the above, it doesn't mean her won't. SJU is going after him hard already...
Zach BrazillerVerified account @NYPost_Brazille Mar 30
St. John's top transfer targets are Arizona guard Justin Simon and Michigan State forward Marvin Clark Jr., per sources. #sjubb
This will be a fun one to keep an eye on-- would be an incredible get by JAM and staff.

It's amazing that Simon is even considering Hofstra, being from SoCal. I'd watch out for Loyola Marymount to snag him, Dunlap having the NBA ties there, it's objectively probably the best fit for him.
PG's thrive here though! The SMART move would be to sign up for three years at HU, Speedy can give Simon the blueprint to the NBA!

And Miller Grove beats Findlay Prep 67-65... On a game-winner by guess who?!
Stats weren't super crazy, but his kids a winner and a talent (remember he's not the featured guy, teammate is a 5* one of the top players in the nation) - still did a little of everything and played good D - finished with 4pts 5boards 3assists 3steals against a top 10 team - they play Oak Hill next
And he WANTS to visit HU folks - pls tell me HU staff and players were and will be in attendance
GET THIS YOUNG MAN ON CAMPUS AND LOCK HIM UP FOR THE BLUE AND GOLD!!!
Future stud - perfect redshirt scenario - Buie and AA backcourt in a yr would be small yes, but straight deadly in the CAA
