I went to this game today with my family both of my younger granddaughters play softball and it was a special moment rededicating the field to Bill Edwards who had a storied coaching career here and left quite a legacy. A nice crowd watched a really good pitchers duel which unfortunately due to the errors we made in the 3rd inning with 2 outs they were able to plate 2 runs. If not for the errors they might still be playing this game. They had 4 hits we had 2. Their pitcher was phenomenal throwing with high velocity and a pitch that just fell off the table. She was able to get k's with that pitch 11 of them to be exact but Emma Fallon pitched equally as well without as many K's 5 for Emma. These teams will meet again and we will have to find answers on how to hit this kid. Enjoyable game except for the final score 2-0.

Unfortunately my previous comments continue to ring true. I'm not going to call this past weekend's performance terrible, but it was very disappointing. Getting your doors blown off and practically run-ruled in your first home game of the year to open up your OWN new field was embarrassing. But did thankfully bounce back and squeezed out a win in game 2 (despite getting rocked early again), and then couldn't manufacture a single run in game 3 after Fallon stepped up and pitched a gem on BILL EDWARDS day - again, that's an ouch. I know Campbell is good this year for this conf, but... just not a great look for us this weekend.

There are positives to build on from this season, they did do better than their prediction, and some players are developing - but this program has a storied history and it needs to be held to that standard. I'm going trust you all who are promising that this HC knows her stuff and will elevate this program back to where it needs to be. This roster needs some upgrading, and they better start playing some real teams in the OOC to get proper experience like Edwards did so that when they face the fighting camels or whatever they're called, our girls aren't shell shocked.

The best teams we play should NEVER be our conf opponents in the CAA. NEVER. Get tougher next season - I am aware she inherited the team and the schedule so I'm just saying for next year fill that OOC with some real power southern and western teams - get tested early, get seasoned throughout, and get better by the end. Edwards strategy worked for a reason. Do that.

Happy with this team and we will be in the thick of things come tourney time. Campbell is good but what we're missing right now is more quality pitching we have enough hitters to win ballgames. We got shut down by a kid who has a 14-2 record throws gas and has a pitch that drops off the table that makes her ALMOST un-hittable. It looks like us, Campbell and UNCW right now. We just have to win the conference we don't need to concern ourselves with anything else right now.

That pitcher on Campbell is only a freshman
She will not be there next year as the southern teams and the P5 conferences will gobble her up real quick
Also, I think UNCW's pitching staff will all be gone for the same reason

We played OOC against Fairfield yesterday and again a pitchers duel with us losing 2-1 going into the last inning. Lily Yepez triples to right center with one out and down to our last out Palacio hits a double to the wall scoring Yepez and getting to third on an error. She comes home with the go ahead run on a single by Ryleigh Smith our catcher. We score two more insurance runs. We give up 1 more run in the bottom of the frame and win 5-3. Madison Steppe pitches her 9th complete game and is now 10-3. She had 7 strikeouts. We play S.B.away fri-sun. Big games

That's a wild comeback at the last minute! Winding down to the finish, all big series really from here on out. HU in the top 3 as noted here, they've got a shot. But have to get the pitching and hitting turned on at the same time in the CAAT.

We play S.B. today who's 8-6 in the conference and we are 15-3. These are important games for us to show that our record is no fluke coming of a 1-3 home series loss against Campbell. GO PRIDE!!

WE shutout S.B. today 3-0 behind another complete game from Emma Falen. She gives up 3 hits and strikes out 7. Gabby Sultan went yard with a solo home run.

Softball played a doubleheader today against Stony Brook because Sunday it's going to rain
We win the first game 6 to 1 and complete the sweep with a 8 to 3 win
We are now 26-18 overall 18-3 conference record

I was at today's dh (niece is a freshman starting OF for SB). Hofstra got a solid 4 hitter from Steppe in Game 1, along with homers by Smith & D'Orazio. The 2nd game was highlighted by 3 HRs and a solid 3+ inning shutout relief outing by Jillian Locher. Impressed by how HU played today.

Always always love beating down on S.B. and this is a small payback for the lacrosse beating we just got from them. The solid innings we got from Locher speak volumes because this is the one aspect of this team that needs improvement our bullpen so to speak. Nice job from Jillian.

Yesterday we played UCONN in softball who we have been competitive against in the past but not in this game we lose 11-3 only get 3 hits. Our pitching gives up 9 walks which is ridiculous. Steppe starts goes 2.1 gives up 4 runs on 2 hits serving up a couple of home runs. The rest of the bullpen not much better. Brennan pitches the first time in a about a month and doesn't record an out. The only bright spot was a 2 run dinger from Morse otherwise a complete disaster.

A throwaway game
I wonder if Emma is going to pitch at all this weekend
If you look at the tape the end of the first game against Stony Brook she took an odd step off and she might have hurt her foot
She only pitched 2 to 3 innings in the third game
So I wonder if she has an injury

Ah, that stinks - great to sweep SBU, that really matters more for this season - for the OOC we just don't have the roster this year to push for anything beyond going all out to win the CAA - it's clear we need to level up the talent in the offseason - this has been a nice year 1, but the standard is of course much higher. UConn is no softball power that's for sure - neither is any non-conf team we've played this year.

But people in the know love this HC hire and believe in her, so I'm down to ride the train and see how they finish out this year, and what they can put together in year 2. Free pass for '26, but she and the team need to bring a different heat in '27.

Just to follow all games last Sunday we played a doubleheader OOC losing the first to Lehigh 7-1 a game where Falen wasn't bringing her A stuff and the we lose the 2nd game to Rutgers 3-2 on an unearned run. Madison Steppe pitched a nice game giving up 4 hits and striking out 5.

Today we played the first game of our last series of the season and we prevail in a pitchers duel 3-2 beating Monmouth. Falen goes the distance giving up 4 hits and striking out 4 charged with 2 earned runs. Big hits by Palacio who goes 2-3 Chelsea Villar with an RBI an Nicole Cancel who hit a solo home run. Very anemic hitting for both teams but we prevail. We're only two wins away from clinching the number 1 seed throughout the tourney. We're 19-3 and Campbell who's 18-4 is right on our tale. Probably will have to win out to get the #1 seed as Campbell holds the tie breaker.

They have a tough series with UNCW
Unless Hubley pitches all three games I don't see Campbell sweeping them
They play a doubleheader tomorrow and we play single games on Friday and Saturday
We win out its academic

Yes the odds seem to be in our favor but Monmouth is no patsy we need to generate some offense.
