Has anyone thought that the problem with the ten year slump might be the coaching?

Yea it’s definitely the coaching. Seth tierney is a total
Joke and I’m going to be nice on this forum and not say what I want to say. I was going to tell you not to get too excited when you thought we had a decent time a couple of weeks ago, but this is the reality now.
Hofstra is not a lacrosse school and Seth tierney is the reason why. Stony brook is getting recruits over Hofstra? They’re both on the island so we can’t blame that on recruiting…Hofstra hasn’t done anything though. If they cared and wanted to change Hofstra lacrosse they’d have to go out and get Amplo but that’s not happening.
Just accept it at this point.

In my view the decline in the athletic program (except for soccer at the moment) is the result of a number of factors. I think the demise of the football program hurt. There is really nothing going on athletically on campus in the Fall. Rabinowitz' hostility to athletics. He once commented that he wanted Hofstra to be like Tufts or Brandeis. Obviously, NIL has hurt the basketball program. We don't seem to have a Mike Repole like St. John's or other enthusiastic well-heeled benefactor. The rise of Stony Brook as an athletic rival. Its hard to compete with all that State money flowing into that school which is now a major academic and research entity. Hofstra seems okay with its little niche. I mean Gonzaga for goodness sake a little Catholic school in Spokane, Washington is a significant participant in men's basketball at the national level year after year. Why Gonzaga can achieve that and Hofstra cannot is unclear to me. Moreover, in my view, Cole has really done nothing and has not moved the department in any sort of positive direction. St. john's was in the same boat maybe worse for period of time but the add of Pitino seems to a have changed things in Jamaica. Not sure I am right on all this but throwing out these comments. Can't wait to get hammered. Lol.

Mikey-you’re right. The only thing Cole has done was signed Hofstra to an all athletic Nike deal which doesn’t say much considering we were one of the last schools to get an all athletic team deal. D2 schools had that before us, but he did that for us so there’s that. Can’t think of anything else.

What about the MSG network deal for broadcast of multiple sports?

How about a sport show on channel 12 featuring a different coach each week to talk about the team and other matters relating to Hofstra athletics

No live stats today
Why??
Because we're playing at Hampton, who don't have life stats available at the lacrosse field

I was watching on FloCollege and also following the live stats.
Towson beat Fairfield today and will host the CAA playoffs.
Drexel edged Stony Brook and has the tiebreaker over us.
Current playoff field looks like this:
1. Towson
2. Fairfield
3. Drexel
4. Hofstra
We hold tiebreakers over Stony Brook and Delaware.

Monmouth upset Delaware today in 2OT, knocking the Hens out of contention for a playoff berth.
So we will host Towson next Saturday in the final game of the regular season. And if the standings remain unchanged, we will face the Tigers again five days later in the semifinals down at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Otherwise we will play Fairfield.
Congrats and good luck to our men!

So where is the love for our CAA playoff-bound MLAX team?
We host #15 Towson tomorrow at 4 pm for our last home game of the season and will honor our graduates, although some could return for a fifth year if the NCAA votes to allow that.
It's possible that we could play Towson again next Thursday in the CAA semifinals. The Tigers are loaded with talent and boast the presumptive CAA POTY in A Mikey Weisshaar (38g, 15a). But even the mighty can fall. Hofstra has five players who have scored 20 goals or more (including FR Drew Bogardus, who has 30) and two more players with 15 or more goals. We need to stay close on faceoffs and play stout defense.

I still got love for our lax team, but all we did was make the CAA lacrosse playoffs. Nothing too major especially for a team that used to compete and be decent (hasn’t been for a while though), so I guess we should be excited about getting to the conference playoffs at this point.
How this program has fallen…hope it doesn’t happen to our flagship sport!

Big day for this team today to show against Towson...then the playoff matchup next week. I think this program is trending upward with alot of young talent.

We lost our last game of the regular season 7-9 to Towson, who finished CAA play 7-0 for the second year in a row. It was a very exciting game. Towson is a fast, physical team (seven penalties), currently ranked #15 in the USILA Coaches Poll, but we held the Tigers to their lowest output of their conference schedule. We also won 12 of 18 faceoffs, which helped a lot.
We play Towson again this coming Thursday at 4 pm on LacrosseTV.com (free). Fairfield and Drexel play at 7 pm. The winners will face off on Saturday for the CAA title and an automatic berth in the NCAAT.

We played our hearts out in what was a great game. To take the ONE seed to OT on their home field is an accomplishment the team should be PROUD of.
