I'm in a quandary here don't know if the staff plans on using that last scholly for the upcoming year or will hold onto it. Would a one year signing of a grad student really behoove us or are we good just the way we are right now. Only a full functioning crystal ball will tell us this I suppose but would much rather see a signing of some length for the last one.

So lets stick with Stony Brook here both there leading scorers have put themselves on the transfer portal. Talk about a Mutiny on the Bounty Makale Foreman and Elijah Olaniyi have just jumped ship so it appears. Did the head coach just leave?? I don't think so! So three of their four starters are looking for greener pastures and Otchere has already transferred. They do have some kids who have transferred in including Frankie Policelli who last played for Dayton and who we recruited. A volatile situation over there it appears.

Thats crazy - according to VC Transfer - Stony Brook has 6 kids transferring out!!! Also notice that JMU has 6 kids in the transfer portal!
I recall JAM saying something along the lines of - these huge number of transfers are bad for the sport.
I know I I have heard Vince Lombardi say "What the hell is going onout here"
There is something to be said for what JAM does - and his ability to keep most of the kids in the fold.

Yes so very true when we lose kids they're kids who wouldn't get much playing time here not our best players. Its like family here right now and hopefully it stays that way.

Mac McClung (PG) leaving Georgetown. He would be a tough get, but we recruited him out of high school. He would have 2 years left (after sitting a year).

Would like to get him. Athletic High basketball IQ great shooter and fits the mold of a Hofstra guard. Chances of him coming here 5%

I think you made your point Stu twice that's lol so just in recent memory and correct me if I'm wrong the kids that we have picked up as transfers such as Brian Bernardi, Jaquil Taylor and Isaac Kante were all kids looking for more playing time. You could also add in Taran Buie and Jamal Combs-McDaniel during the dark days of Hofstra basketball at least that's the way I feel. All of these kids weren't getting the playing time they wanted with the one exception being Mike Moore who had already established himself at Fordham. I think giving him a 5% chance of coming here really is way optimistic, more like zero. He winds up with a big school bball program P5 I believe.

Of course the probability is really low, but we did have some previous contact, and there's the Speedy angle. Just thought I'd bring up his name.

The schools that have reached out to McClung so far are Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, USC, BYU, Wake Forest, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Utah, Arizona State, Oklahoma State and Georgia, sources tell 247Sports.

McClung originally declared for the NBA Draft, but withdrew from the process on Wednesday afternoon.
Sounds more like .005%.

"So you're saying there's a chance...."

Newsday today gives the ULTIMATE SPIN FOR Stony Brook's six basketball transfers...says they're ALL seeking major college spots....nothing about their team is now decimated!

You talk about a rebuilding year this adds new meaning to rebuilding a program even though they have some transfers coming in and it all seemed to happen so fast. I feel bad for the coaching staff.

SBU is not a program that is positioned to have long-term success like that - not surprised really - they'll be up and down over the years - and yeah the transfer thing is getting wild across the NCAA in all sports - the transfer portal giveth, and taketh away it seems...

Surprised at Depaul for Salnave - can't say I get it at all, not a single NYer in the program - lot of northern kids of late have taken this odd midwestern path and disappear - young team, so perhaps provided the most immediate 'guaranteed' PT - but that's not a splash move at all - BE, so it's P5, but that's not exactly a power program - lot of hoopers have gone there to never be heard from again. We'll see.

And if HU goes for an SBU guy, I'll take the big Jeff Otchere over anyone else.

Otchere transferred a while ago Polito to Texas Rio-Grande Valley which plays in the WAC conference. The WAC is the 27th worst conference in the country. Go figure. I believe Otchere was losing minutes at SB to another big underclassman. Maybe the reason for his departure.

IDK if we hit it out of the park here not finding him on V/C although there's video on you tube. 6'3 guard from Christ The King. I don't think he's Speedy just yet. Looking for H.S. stats. CTK apparently was a mediocre team this year. I leave this one for someone who knows more about his game!
