We used to go to the Mack every weekend growing up to watch the Pecora years

Just a very cool moment tonight with Speedy that he won it
Cried in 2020 and cried tonite. A very emotional win!!

Hoping we get at least a 13 seed. Lunardi bracket showed us as a 14. That’s crazy!!

Ok a couple words... 16 points, 18 rebounds (10 offensive) combined for Silas and Victory. As a team +12 on the boards, +9 and the FT line, and by the skin of our teeth held opponent under 70 yet again.

We've always had amazing guards, but this team added the toughness, rebounding, and the defense needed to be a champion.

Incredible.

what a wild ride... to start the season mostly picked to be a mid-bottom pack team and people questioning if Speedy is the right coach for this team, and wondering if we should drop down to D3 to going to the tournament...

Who the hell was suggesting we drop down to D3?

I just left after watching the team cut down the nets. What an emotional atmosphere. I felt like we were playing catch-up the whole game, with about 70% of the crowd Monmouth fans. We did what needed to be done when the chips were down. Congratulations to the entire team, and especially to Preston for winning Tournament MVP!

Today was our 801st consecutive game that was not in the NCAA Tournament, meaning our 801st game in 25 seasons in the CAA.

The bracket based on the NET had us with a 13 before the game. I do not think we can get a 12 or better. So far 7 teams have automatic bids with a worse NET than us, and 8 conferences with tournaments in progress or not started have all of their teams with a worse NET than us. 14 teams get seeds of 14 or worse including 6 with 16s, so being better than 15 teams makes a 13 seed.

Monmouth was picked sixth. I wonder how rare it is for a conference to have a final beween two teams seeded 3 or worse who were 6 or worse in the preseason poll.

Our average home attendance was 1,987. After an NCAA Tournament appearance, guess what it will be next season with Davis and Edmead, with Edmead, and with neither. Keeping Davis and losing Edmead is hypothetically possible, but I think it is unlikely.

Our NIL money and spending is going to go up. Not really worried about keeping Davis and Edmead. We will either keep them and if we don’t, we will get good replacements. Don’t worry.

The universities should set up a viewing party the night of selection of the NCAA teams
Maybe they can open up the arena or possibly Hofstra USA
After we find out where we will be playing, and the team can come out and meet the fans
I am hoping that it takes place in Philadelphia

I will definitely go and possibly they can bring in Jay Wright and unite him with speedy

WOW!!!!! It wasn't always pretty, but we got it done!

Congrats to Speedy, the players, coaches, and program. Great start to bringing back some excitement to the program.

Off topic - How da heck is Tejada not playing for a power conf team. They guy would be starting on 75% of the top teams. Could Towson have given him the kind of money needed to keep him?

On the off chance anyone missed this (and worth another listen if you did hear it), just an absolutely incredible answer from Speedy here....

Many here have been hard on his coaching flaws over the years, myself included, but there isnt a person on earth who cares more about this program than him. I literally had his poster on my wall as a kid, and look at him now. So beyond happy for Speedy to get this done

Joined this forum when my daughter began at Hofstra Law earlier this year. I am Hofstra Law Class of 82. Did not follow the team all year because we are mostly focused on our daughter's success not basketball. Was pleasantly surprised to see on the news the other day that we were in the finals.

What a great game, what a great story. Look forward to seeing us in the big dance. Hopefully we can stay relatively close to the New York area.

The guy I’m most wondering about keeping is Speedy, does he get a bigger job now? Also anyone know if there will be a viewing party at the Mack on Sunday night? Would be awesome.

Tejada does not want to be the next Nicolas Timberlake. Timberlake played for Towson for five seasons, and he managed to have a sixth season. He played in 9 games in his first season. In his last season for Towson, he averaged 17.7 points. He went to Kansas, and averaged 5.2 points in 15.4 minutes.

https://gohofstra.com/boxscore.aspx?pat ... l&id=13862 is the box score. The attendance was 1,359. To compare, the Summit League (which has Omaha, which is the nearest team to me) had their tournament in one of the least populous states, South Dakota. The Summit League is 22nd in the Conference NET compared to the CAA in 14th. The Summit League Final got 5,937, which is 4.37 times what the CAA got. In 2020 we beat Northeastern in the Final. Northeastern averaged 1,186 fans, which is fewer than the 1,725 that Monmouth averaged this season. Northeastern is farther from D.C. than Monmouth is. The Finals were the same date, day of the week, time, and location. The 2020 Final got 1,926, so this year's Final was down 29.4 percent from 2020. The 2006 Final in which UNCW beat us in Richmond got 4,580.
