I'd be surprised if we don't get in. Based on our track record, and RN's swan song

I hope they get in, but it shouldn't be about this. It should be if they are deserving of getting in based on THIS season's body of work only (we know it doesn't always work that way, especially with men's hoops, let alone men's soccer, but that's what selections and omissions should be about).

ncaa.com is saying 1:00 this afternoon

Hofstra gets an at-large, plays 1st round game at Syracuse; winner plays #1 in the nation and defending champ Vermont (rematch of last years 2nd round game in Hempstead)

Here's the bracket: https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/soccer-men/d1/2025

Vermont is not only the top seed this time, but also undefeated (14-0-5). The Catamounts are only the second America East team to get a top-four seed (Boston University was a 2 seed in 1994).

St. John's also got an at-large and is on the opposite side of the bracket from Hofstra. Pride-Red Storm championship game! :)

The Syracuse game is a very winnable game for us
And remember, we only lost Vermont by a score of two to one so we can play with them

https://gohofstra.com/news/2025/11/17/m ... rsday.aspx is titled "We're In! Hofstra Earns At-Large Bid To NCAA Championship, Plays At Syracuse Thursday." It is our first at-large bid. Syracuse is 9-7-3.

Elon is in a similar situation. If they win at UNC Greensboro, they go to 2 seed Virginia. Elon hosted UNCG during the season, and it was 0-0.

https://caasports.com/news/2025/11/17/h ... ament.aspx is titled "Hofstra and Elon to Compete in First Round of 2025 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament."

Whew, so happy they get to continue on - really did not want to send RN out on an L to SBU of all places! Let's reignite this fire and go on a run here - gotta grab at least 1 win and get that rematch with Vermont.

HU has some talent and it has come together nicely - they just haven't really played much of anyone, so the tourney will be the hardest games so far - but this program and esp RN are very experienced in punching above weight in these scenarios, 'Cuse will be tough but beatable, let's make some noise

We are 27th in the RPI, and Syracuse is 37th, so the RPI says we should be hosting.

Except they are a power five school and we are a mid major
Evan, all you have to do is follow the money
A few years ago, we played at Penn State instead of hosting
We went out to an 8-0 lead before finally winning 8 to 2 after Richard emptied his bench

Pols we did play #1 Vermont on the road.

The win over #3 seed Princeton may have clinched the at large for us.
This is a great second chance to take the coach out in style. Karma says the Vermont rematch should happen and win that one and get on a roll like Vermont did last year,
But first handle Syracuse tonight.

We won 2-0. The announcer said "The Pride are roaring on to Burlington." The game is Sunday at 1:00 P.M.

Elon played at UNC Greensboro. UNC Greensboro dominated with more shots 23 to 4, and more shots on goal 6 to 1, but nobody scored in 110 minutes, so it went to penalty kicks, which UNCG won.

Great - Vermont rematch it is! They deserved another shot - glad they got it. I was at that game last year - very evenly matched.

YES!!! Awesome news, awesome win - NOW we've got a chance to make national noise - let's get it boys!

Good call HUSID, they did, and this is the opportunity for payback. Can think of nothing better to honor RN than one of the biggest wins in HU history - lay it all on the pitch fellas!!

Great win for the team and coach Nuttall, now its revenge time vs. the Catamounts...hope the weather is decent. Cold but clear in Syracuse. Why that game was not played at Hofstra should be cause for investigation!

Here are the two goals:

What else can you say about #27 Laurie Goddard? CAA POY, and surely a candidate for higher national honors.

#21 Daniel Burko, who scored the second goal, transferred to Hofstra from Syracuse. The passing that set up that goal was beautiful.

We are one of 32 teams left in the tournament.
Of course our intrepid local newspaper, NEWSDAY, chose to EVEN post scores of the tournament!!!!
Embarrasing, perhaps they didn't because the only LI college they cover, St John's lost.
A SHAME!
