We'll get a better read on this team after Stony Brook. The NEC is not exactly the ACC. Yes, a good second half but also a lot of confusion on defense and offense in the first half. Good to see a smidgen of fast break in the second half. Felt like a Danowski team for a second or two. What's up with McIntosh, Tolmie, Elder guys with lots of PT last year. Good to seem SArdrey with minutes and a goal.

For what it's worth, my numbers have men's lax with 85 losses to date since ST took the reigns. Of those L's - 42 of them have been by one goal or virtually 50%. In 2007, 7 of the 8 loses were by one goal. In 2012, 6 of the 8 loses were by one goal. The numbers seem high to me, but I'm not sure and even if high or out of proportion I'm not sure what it means if anything. I plan to crunch the numbers on the one goal wins.

is there a reason Altman is not listed as a starter tomorrow on the preview page? Is he injured or something else?

Don't remember Hofstra ever playing defense this poorly. Really awful. Hard to blame the goaltending there is nothing in front of him and even if a save is made they put in the rebound. Starting to look like the St. John's game.

Faceoffs, goal tending, Mr. Tierney; now if we can just add defense to the mix we might have something.

long poles were horrible. Too many times caught napping and shorties were often one step behind.

Nice win. The team will obviously fall short of the NCAA tourney though. No reason for excitement. Ive seen this movie before, I know how it ends.

Tend to agree with you Hofstra, but the CAA tourney is played at Shuart this year which could provide a big edge. We'll see. Let's beat Wagner first.

Hey guys enough of the bashing. That was a great lacrosse game and the best player on the field really rose to the occasion!
Our offense and faceoff prowess can carry this team a long way...lets enjoy it for a change.

So I was looking at the scoreboard and noticed this score. #5 Georgetown beat St Johns 19-1. That is NOT a typo. Maybe we can get some game film and see what Georgetown did to turn in that great defensive performance

Georgetown has allowed two goals so far this season, one last week to Villanova and one today vs. St. John's. Their goalie is exceptional, but they also play terrific team defense.

He's a nice article about the team:

Oh, yes ... the Hoyas are coached by Kevin Warne, a former standout Dutch defenseman (1995-99). Glad to see him doing well after some difficult years (2-12, 4-10) not too long ago.

As of today, Ryan Tierney is leading D1 with 5.67 GPG. Alex Concannon is tied for sixth place with 4 GPG.

So today we beat an inferior Wagner team 18-6 The D did look better and the offense led by Seth Tierney dominated Wagner 18-6 Seth scored as many as Wagner team did and became the all time leader in goals for Hofstra and All time leader in goals and points in CAA history

No matter who it was against this team is a scoring juggernaut and Tierney is probably on the Mount Rushmore of Hostra lacrosse players. Too bad nobody is there to see him play...hopefully that will change soon.

Ryan would fit right in with the Danowski teams with players like Shanahan Kessler and the like Can See Ryan winning the Tweareten (sp) trophy like Matt Danowski did at Duke in his senior year player for his father

Just swinging through to give congrats on the wins, I love this program and want it to succeed. But I'm not blind so I don't have a lot of faith in the admin or the staff to ensure that starts happening again, but wins are wins (even low level ones) and happy to see them get some.

Ryan is a stud, has been since day 1, and I gave (and still give) him a lot of credit for staying loyal to his dad and coming to this sinking ship. He essentially threw himself on a fire for his fam, and I have to respect that. Unfortunately for him, no one knows how great he really is because this program is nationally irrelevant and has fallen off a cliff. Has nothing to do with fans in the stands, there isn't any respectable numbers of people paying a lick of attention to this program anymore, so he resigned himself to relative obscurity by coming here. My fear has been he'd never make a tourney and would've completely wasted his talents here. It's so close to that its both scary and sad... this is literally it, the last shot to try and salvage his impressive individual career.

I'm hopeful that energy, that drive, and the CAAT being at HU somehow pushes them over the hill, and that this crazy time will somehow be crazy in the positive for HU. If there was ever a year under ST that they SHOULD succeed, this would be the one. The O seems powerful, but no D won't win games that matter.

So I will believe them turning it around under ST when they actually step foot on an NCAAT field to play in a real live NCAAT game. Until then, this is all just 'nice' fluff, relatively meaningless - and 'nice' isn't worthwhile, substance is. Win the CAA, earn the bid, and then we can get down to business that means something lasting.

I actually do think it's possible (albeit not likely with this current leadership), but whether people want to acknowledge it or not, that's been the case for a decade, so for this father - son combo, it's put up or shut up time. This program is so desperate for success, I'm praying they can find it this season!
