As of yesterday when the mid major poll was updated we moved from #19 to 15 and UNCW IS still #14. It's odd to not see Gonzaga at #1 who just lost to St Mary's who is the new #1. Iona back in the top 25 at #24. Charleston went from 3 to 5.

So we played TWO #1 teams this season -- MSM and Purdue? How often has that ever happened to us?

We're the top team with at least 8 losses. I did not check SOS, but we are above Utah Valley, Southern Utah, Santa Clara, Sam Houston, and Belmont, who have 8 or fewer losses in much better conferences. In fact, of the bottom ten conferences in the NET, the three CAA teams are the only ranked teams. The CAA is the only one of the bottom fifteen conferences with more than one ranked team. In the NET among eligible teams, Charleston is 7th, we are 21st, and UNCW is 42nd.

It's Saint Mary's, not Mount St. Mary's. Mount St. Mary's is 7-16 against Division I.

There is no way of finding out previous Number 1s in the Mid-Major Poll unless somebody did that on his own.

We moved up 5 spots to Number 8. Charleston is fourth, UNCW is first in others receiving votes, and Towson has votes. In the NET, we are 19th among eligible teams.

THIS poll position for HU makes a lot more sense than where Katz has them. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's very good recognition and something to take pride in to be called the sixth-best mid-major team in the nation, and it's very reasonable to call them that right now. It's less reasonable (not that it's not great to see and not that I don't like Katz) to call them the nation's 34th-best team.
