Just heard JM at media day say the team was beaten badly. Only a scrimmage though, and if they get better because of it, then good.

Jm mentioned that Hal Hughes will most likely red shirt. JT and DD will split the 5 spot. JM implied KS will likely only get a few minutes.

EP said TC is a beast on teh court (is a rock at 210 lbs).

Not a good sign...JAM also mentioned injuries...all teams in all sports have injuries so I hope JAM is not going to use injuries as excuse if we get off to slow start...

New AD said tickets were flying out of ticket office for home opener on November 9th so based on what he said I guess we can expect a good turnout ??

I wouldn't place any importance on this game whatsoever and if we got beat badly this would have been because our starters didn't play much and a lot of players were getting playing time. I don't know who we played but would like to see what the box score looks like.

I know they have a goal to try and sell it out; they gave all of us season ticket holders 2 extra tickets to this game. I am still trying to find two for mine but hopefully we all end up filling these extra seats and the place is packed out.

Mathew that is interesting that u say u got two extra tickets as a season ticket holder. I'm a season ticket holder and just today had a box delivered to my house with the tickets and a travel mug. I just looked at the tickets and there were vouchers to the women's home games but I didn't get extra tickets to the first game?? I guess I'm not a preferred ticket holder. Lol

I thought it was everyone but I picked up my season tickets at the green turtle event and they handed out the 2 extra tickets separately from the box.

Just looked back at the e-mails; it was 2 free tickets to everyone that went to the Coaches Caravan; not if you were a season ticket holder. Sorry for the confusion.

Getting a big crowd for the home opener would be a nice way to start season and it would help with recruiting

The 8 games from December 5 through January 5 will be 6 at home with trips to Manhattan and Stony Brook. The last time Hofstra played 8 consecutive games in the area was November 25 through December 28, 2002. Hofstra opened with a loss at Gonzaga. Their second through ninth games were against St. Francis (NY) in White Plains, hosting Lehigh, hosting Quinnipiac, hosting Monmouth, at St. John's, at Stony Brook, hosting Manhattan, and at St. Peter's, which is in Jersey City. Hofstra beat Lehigh and lost the other seven en route to going 8-21. That's Hofstra's third worst winning percentage ahead of 7-25 in 2012-2013 and 6-21 in 1987-1988. In 17 seasons in the CAA, Hofstra has a .518 winning percentage in all games. Hofstra has had a better field goal percentage than their opponents 9 times and a worse field goal percentage 8 times.

I saw this article about the season preview of the basketball team 2018-2019. Predicted starters, bench and how we might fare in the CAA this year.

9 of our 12 out of conference Division I games are against teams with a worse RPI than us last near. An NIT-level team should go at least 9-3 in those games, and anything worse than 8-4 is something to worry about.

Just hope the stage isn't being set by the coach and his talk of injuries to use injuries as an excuse for not winning. I have heard that EP sprained an ankle and that ST might be in concussion protocol. At least that's my take away from what I've heard don't know of anything else. We have more depth(bodies) then last year and it sounds like Coburn might be thrown into the mix right away depending on how prolonged these injuries are. It also sounds like Hughes is a redshirt and that we shouldn't count on Schutte since he's not ready. Maybe Dwyer will see more minutes initially then had been planned for him. If no Trueheart then I like going with 4 guards and a 5 since both EP and Coburn are both around 6'5" and have some bulk. They say that Coburn is around 210 now. What about Radovic, can he give us quality minutes at the 4?? I know I'm not alone after losing the way we did last year in the CAA playoffs to have to listen to excuses this year.

Pemba is out of his cast and moving...should be ready in time for the opener, True ok....JT and DD will start splitting time at the 5... Dwyer has been the real surprise from what I hear...playing well...Ray and others with nagging injuries...look for them to fade away when the season starts.

Thanks SID for updated info. your posts about Dwyer are the first posts I've seen about anything definitive re Dwyer. If he can give us quality minutes what a big plus that would be considering his college career has been real sketchy. BTW why did EP need a cast??

So I guess if things stay the way they are right now starting 5 will be :

Buie
JWF
Pemberton
ST
Taylor

It was a boot, not a cast...big difference!

That's certainly the most likely scenario unless ST can't go because of concussion protocol then who would be the next man up?? My feeling is that either Coburn or Dwyer would step into the 4. I personally would prefer a player that has a mid range game myself. IDK what the story is with Radovic. He certainly seems to be an unknown.
