Perhaps. He was Austin Peay's leading scorer this season, but the 12 ppg were on 11 shots per game. He only shot 39.5% overall and 31% from 3.
However, maybe those shooting percentages improve given that 1) it was only his first real year, 2) he was on a bad team (9-22, finished in last place in the ASun), and 3) he may enjoy playing near home again for a local school that he knows wanted him from the start. He could thrive a little more and be more efficient on a better team at HU than at AP. Worth a second look now especially if they originally tried to recruit him out of high school - I would guess that HU is already exploring this as a possible option.
From this 2020 article:
Hofstra: “They’re my hometown school, about 20 minutes from me. I’ve actually been in contact with Hofstra for about two years now. They recently offered back in April, but we’ve been talking for the past two years now, really building a relationship with coach [Speedy] Claxton.

RIP St. Francis Terriers. Good luck to Zion Bethea, Michael Parrotta and their teammates as they hit the transfer portal:

Bummer I liked his game. Figured if he would ride it out like Carlos did last year he'd get a big opportunity next season.

That really stinks to hear, I always rooted for that program, a true underdog.
Saw Parrotta's son at a lot of games down the stretch, wonder if he will walk on to Hofstra next year.

Sucks to see. Especially since it was the oldest men's hoops program in NYC, going back to 1896. Was also one of the original four D-I teams left not to make the NCAAT (now that's down to just Army, The Citadel, and William & Mary). Northwestern was a fifth for a long time until they finally made their first two NCAATs in the last seven years (making their second this year).

Could this be the tip of the iceberg and will we be seeing other schools TOTALLY eliminating their athletic programs who are in dire financial needs. It would be a shame I'm happy that they are honoring all scholarships moving forward.

Marshall may be leaving because he knows Thomas and maybe even Estrada will be back or are leaning that way...if that was NOT the case he should stay as the door would be open for him next year.

Thank you HUSID this was my thinking of course we aren't privy to this info. but why would he leave when he appears to be the heir apparent. It doesn't make sense.

I'm surprised about Marshall - he definitely has some talent. Not quite sure why he fell out of the rotation in favor of Washington. I thought he might have been injured and Wash stepped up and took his spot. Hopefully as others have pointed out it could be a reaction to TT and maybe AE returning.
Re St Francis - so sorry to see their programs die on the vine. I remember going to see HU play them at the 69 Regiment Armory (now a historic landmark) in downtown Manhattan. The Knicks also played there from 48-60 (courtesy Wiki) including playoffs in the early 50's. Parked on the street and walked into a building like any other in NYC at that time - was "neat". HU also won so even better!

Here's the statement St. Francis issued about eliminating its athletics program:

Ironically, we will host St. Francis for our final spring soccer match on April 28. Wonder if it will be their last match, too?

The rest of the CAA besides Hofstra (fingers crossed) continues to take a beating in the portal.
- Jahmyl Telfort left Northeastern today (that school has struggled to retain its stars... imagine if Tyson Walker was still there instead of at MSG in sweet 16)
- Policelli and starter Kaine Roberts both in portal from Stony Brook
- NC A&T lost their 2 leading scorers Kam Woods and Marcus Watson, and their best freshman Duncan Powell
- Uncw lost a starter in Jamari Thomas
- Monmouth lost their best player Myles Foster
- William and Mary lost their best big Ben Wight
- And of course Timberlake and Nelson Jr gone too (would think they both have Cam Wynter like roles on power 5 teams next yr)
Charleston and Drexel haven't lost anyone super notable to date

Good for Hofstra - not for CAA

It's early yet fellas don't hold your breath just yet and the fact that we lost Marshall has to be a considered a loss even though he just had that one big game against Purdue.

I agree, Marshall's loss does hurt. He's the type of kid we used to build the program around...now with the portal we, or anyone can't keep kids around any more...shame.

Yeah now we'll have to see Marshall develop for some other school. Do wish him well though seemed like a real team player.

Nice player, but eminently replaceable. I wish him the best.
