I couldn't find any video of this game that would have been fun to watch for sure.

Didnt Ziggy score like 70 points in a high school game?

you have to take it for what it is a high school game. Good sign yes but lets see what happens when he gets here.
Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Salivating.
A little follow up stats I pulled from this Hoya article on Riley being named NY Mr Basketball, and the high end guys he beat out - JC has already gone toe to toe with him

Jaquan Carlos Thomas Jefferson-PSAL PG 5’10” Sr.
Committed to Hofstra
247 Sports: ranked #166 Nationally, ranked #24 Point Guard, #4 ranked in NYS
Rivals: ranked #150 Nationally
Prep Hoops: ranked #180 Nationally
Top 5 in NY

Yep, he did Stu, I was recalling the same, set the *NC* HS record with 76 points
I mean that's wild. His overall resume was a bit lighter than JC's though, about 15 points a game. Shot the 3 well of course, at 55% in HS.
I think JC is a more accomplished and higher level player overall, and I trust the NYC competition a bit more than what Ziggy went against, Statesville was/is a very good program, just not so sure about the Matthews HS he did that against.
Either way, your point stands Stu, grain of salt
regardless, I am SO pumped for this young buck to arrive. He's got the feels of NCAATs to me. With a plural.

The process continues;
HU signs 6’9” Christian Tomasco a current HS senior.

Sweet - think we just offered him 2-3 weeks ago - read he was going to IMG next year - coaches sold him on coming to Hofstra instead.Captain wrote:The process continues;

Scored 25 in this one with five dunks...12 of 13 shooting.

Some Tamasco video. Looks like he has some ability to shoot the three, not afraid to go to the hoop, and 6'9".
Obviously needs to get stronger and put on some pounds before he can battle under the hoop, but the potential is there. Definitely stretch 4 potential. Looks like he will need strength and maturation to really play at D1 level, but no reason to believe that cant happen.

Yes Stu - that is why I said "no reason to believe that can't happen"
I like this pick-up.

Sounds like a FR redshirt.

Like this pickup as a long-term developmental prospect and it's encouraging that Speedy continues to get guys from the Philly area who may end up being diamonds in the rough -- Barrouk, Tomasco...If you can pull from NYC/NJ/Philly you're going to be just fine in the recruiting department.
Seems to have some Denton Koon to his game, love that he can shoot. More of a PF than a C for sure.

Yes this is probably the game plan with this kid. Rather then have him go to a prep school to get acclimated to D1 basketball the prep will be done at HU. Playing against the starters on this team putting on weight/muscle and getting him ready for the following year. Right now he has a frame like Hal Hughes but has played against better competition and has an outside game. This is a good get.Jojogunne wrote:Sounds like a FR redshirt.

Recent story about Griffin Barrouk who's working hard to be able to play this year. https://papreplive.com/2021/04/24/dln-w ... ter-tough/
Re: MBB Recruits 2021
So Tomasco will mean that HU ahs 9 new players on the roster. Staff will have quite a challenge to build a team right away with so many new faces. With Ray and Cramer returning, a few core players remain. Add in Burgess (don't know if he will be starting or not next season) but at least he's a returning player with game experience.
So far, Speedy has met the challenge of recruiting, so along the same line, hope he meets the challenge of "team building".

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Cards this will be pretty much the challenge for most D 1 schools. Have you checked out Verbal Commits? There are over 1600 D 1 transfers listed and our CAA has seen a great deal of roster changes as have we.Cards wrote:So Tomasco will mean that HU ahs 9 new players on the roster. Yes HUSID - very different/strange times in the college basketball world. I agree that most schools and coaches are facing the same issues, but not all will handle them similarly, nor with the same level of success. I think Speedy will handle the issues well and HU will end up on the successful side of things. We certainly have the horses, both on the staff and roster.HUSID80 wrote:Cards this will be pretty much the challenge for most D 1 schools. Have you checked out Verbal Commits?
