Uber proud of this young man... quite honestly, he is making a strong case to be considered the best guard on the team IMO - very excited to have him another yr

Look, I love the story and appreciate these 2 making the tough choice to come here and they've blessed this program that surely would've really struggled without them... but right now I gotta be honest, I'm kind of not in the mood - I'd like less media feel good stories about their friendship, which we've seen ad nauseaum now, and MORE WINS - a TITLE - and an NCAA.
I want to see these 2 go out WINNERS - THAT'S a story I'd read over and over again.

Newsday video on the wrestling team. Big year for the program, as they host the NCAA national championship at MSG. The program and school will be in the spotlight.

USA Today has a nice piece on JAM/Hofstra.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nc ... um=twitter
They also wrote an article about Juan'ya Green.

Also, Brian Bernardi got a random Rothstein shoutout.
Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein
Brian Bernardi has made a combined 153 three-point shots in his 1.5 years at Hofstra. Shooting 40% from long distance. Specialist.

So this morning I go online to look at Newsday to see if the Rok article is in, and sure enough there it is! Great for Rok! Unfortunately, on the opposite page is a larger article heralding SBUs 14th win in a row. They had to come from behind in the last few minutes to defeat lowly Binghamton. Then to make matters worse and disrespect us, there is another article (as big as Roks) talking about STJ losing 13 games in a row!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME.....the get the same press for stinking up every time they are on the court. Typical Newsday - we get a nice article and they choose to overshadow it with SBU (even though its AE, its still 14 in a row) and STJ (absolute bottom of the barrel).
Screw them.....I am stoked for tonights game!

So typical...like they couldn't do ANYTHING to advance tonight's game?

The good news is, nothing can stop the media attention for a WINNER - nothing. Even if they didn't want to, when a team deserves it and everyone else is covering, they have no choice - we can at least take comfort in knowing they may be forced into it!!
Great articles, and great attention starting to heat up for our team - really excited for them, and really proud of the program -
And let this be a lesson to all those folks, both HU related and non, that love to talk about how no one cares about this program, that HU never gets ink, and blah blah blah - as I have ALWAYS said that is complete BS. When HU wins, when the program is
good, this team will garner strong coverage and in general MORE coverage than most anyone else in the league from a numbers perspective
And don't get me wrong, this isn't delusion, it isn't because of HU - it is very simply because in this
location the sheer number of media outlets is insane - it's a HUGE advantage for a winning Hofstra team over others in the CAA - HUGE. Need proof? Just look at Monmouth - I know they've beaten some bigs, but the national attention for even just a few regular season W's is really something, and being in the NYC region def hasn't hurt - same for when HU produces, outlets from all over are almost forced to take notice, even if just because others are and the competition of the area, i.e. like Newsday above
The counter of course is that when HU is bad, wow, it's almost non-existent lol - so it's kind of feast or famine, it's go big or go home, which is both good and bad
But to me the cool thing is this current attention is all just from
potentially taking the lead in a mid major conf...regular season - this program hasn't even accomplished true big things yet - when it does, you will see serious coverage, the difference between this area and others, and the real value for the CAA of having HU and access to the NY media market

Polito, I agree with you 100%. Make your own story, winning takes care of everything. Banners, rings, NCAAT, NIT, and CAA Championships are the primary focus and last forever. All the other things we all have been wanting for such a long time take care of themselves so much easier. To quote Al Davis, "Just win, Baby!" I hope all the work the BB coaches are doing on campus pays off. GO DUTCH!

This is pretty cool! It's not every day there's an NCAA National Championship trophy just chilling on campus.

thats cool! go get 'em grapplers
Koon article was great too, have to say, considering his injury, the questions coming into the season on his recovery and ability to play impactful D1 ball again, this guy has come into a starting role and done a pretty good job - he's not a star or uber consistent, but man he really has contributed a TON - can't ask for much more being a 1 yr guy and supplementary piece to the starting rotation
Would love for him to be more consistent shooting, but not many could expect that he would be a double-double guy as much as he is - big factor this yr, key component - congrats to him, and thanks for choosing HU

CBS Sports ranked the top 101 college basketball players. Juan'ya Green checks in at 98, the only other CAA player listed in Northeastern's David Walker at 99.

Great story in Newsday today about Messrs Green and Tanksley. Of course it did not mention today's game but good story nonetheless.

It at least gave the time and TV channel for today's game on Page A63. If Newsday hadn't written the article, the time and channel would only have been in the big TV listings for all sports.
We'll see how much attention Newsday gives to the CAA Tournament. Have people noticed that at times Newsday had the conference standings for the Big East, America East, and CAA?

Super article on Green and Tanksley - read a lot of the 'brothers' angle, but this one I enjoyed for the behind the scenes insight to their recruitment, their transfer options, their advisement, and parent relationships - really good stuff
these are really good quality young men, I am rooting HARD for these guys to get the big job done and get themselves on the national stage
And very good view into their very clear awareness that the CAAT is both the big challenge and the big key to both their post-college success and the continued success/perception of the program
No doubt they feel the pressure and the excitement of this final college season! Will be honored to show my appreciation next Sat

Good stuff, as usual, from Mr. Logan.
Along the same lines, I interviewed Mihalich, Green and Tanskley during a Hofstra practice a little over a year ago, and wrote this piece:
