we were overmatched physically and mentally. Team looked intimidated in the first half.

Heck of a comeback. I realize the competition isn't as good, but still, a 9-1 win over anyone is something.

He had Jenna Borresen play up front towards the end, so it looks like the splitting of time in goal is done for the moment.

The old saying that you are not as bad as the score in a blowout loss and not as good in a blowout win.

Our women play Duke next, and Duke beat West Virginia, 2-0.

We beat Duke 2-1 on goals by Sam and Jill Mullholland (87th minute). Nice win against a team that beat WVU.

From WRHU's women's soccer announcer on twitter:

Anthony Santaniello @AJ_Santaniello · 6m 6 minutes ago
#Hofstra women's soccer has played 3 teams in current Top 25 (UVA, West Va., & UConn) and are highest ranked #CAA team in #NCAA poll. (1/2)
Anthony Santaniello @AJ_Santaniello · 5m 5 minutes ago
The win vs N'eastern means way more than any other in #CAA. NU is next highest ranked team. If the huskies make it, #Pride will too. (2/2)

Also of note, with her second consecutive hat trick, Leah Galton has officially surpassed Sam Scolarici's goal total for this season.
Current RPI is 43, Northeastern's is 58.

Congratulations to Leah Galton on receiving her second consecutive CAA Player of the Year Award:

Galton, Sam Scolarici and Jeannine Molleda were all named to the All-CAA First Team. Chloe Dale made the Third Team and received All-CAA Academic Team honors. Freshman Rhian Cleverly made the All-Rookie Team.

Congratulations to all of our honored players!

Congrats to the womens soccer team on a hard fought 4-3 victory over #2 seed JMU. Now onto the winner of the W&M and Northeastern game. I believe the win will put us in the NCAA tourney(at large) as our RPI is the highest in the CAA.

The championship game at Northeastern will be on SNY today at 1:00 P.M. for those of you who would rather watch Hofstra than the Jets.

Edit: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=68689&a=1 will have statistics.

Edit: Hofstra's starters have a mix of years with two freshmen, two sophomores, four juniors, and three seniors. Northeastern is starting two freshmen, four sophomores, one junior, and four seniors.

At large bid looking slimmer, after the loss today we're up to 42, while Northeastern surpassed us at 41. There's still hope though. Selection show monday at 4:30.

Unfortunately, the team wasn't selected for an at large bid. I think the two injuries were too costly, and led to bad losses which really hurt the team (most notably losing to Yale at home). It's unfortunate the selection committee couldn't reward the team for their good wins and especially honoring Scoalrici and Galton for all they did for the team. I think the team can still be pretty good without Scolarici next year, as long as other teammates can pick up the scoring duties besides Galton.
