I just wish Hofstra would do something Wags. I’ve been rooting and have been a die hard fan for so long with disappointment.
Maybe Hofstra should try and recruit Fran McCaffrey to come be an assistance and mentor speedy? Fran was at Siena and did well there. Maybe he can help speedy and the current staff with coaching

UNCW got a 14 seed. Wasn’t the CAA one of the top non power 5 mid major conferences back in the day?
If Will Wade can turn Mcneese state into a 12 seed then why in the world are we stuck in the position we are stuck in.
If conference champions were seeded by their conference's rank in the NET, the CAA in 17th would have gotten the bottom 13 seed. There are 31 conferences, so 14 below the CAA. Including six 16s, there are 14 teams seeded from 14 through 16 that a 13 seed has to be better than. McNeese (12), Akron (13), High Point (13), and Lipscomb (14) are above UNCW in the NET while being in a worse conference. Lipscomb got a 14 with a better NET than two of the 13s.
Edit: If you think a 14 seed for UNCW is bad, the Women's Tournament was won by 9 seed W&M (who started by beating us), and they are a 16 seed in the First Four against High Point. W&M is 277th in the NET, meaning that you could make four 68 team tournaments (1-68, 69-136, 137-204, and 205-272 without automatic bids) all with teams above them.

Just wanted to go to an old HU remembrance as told to me by my Dad: During an ESPN Bracket Buster at HU vs Siena in about 2006, then Siena Coach Fran McCafferty and his wife in the stands were both thrown out for arguing a call. I don't think he would be interested in a reunion at HU. That must have been some scene.

Didn't know where else to post this since there isn't a thread (yet) on this year's NCAA tournament here but I thought this tweet was interesting:

Almost 1/4 of this year's field is comprised of schools that do not have football programs. It's suggested that a good NCAAT run would be a great way to raise funds to add a football program. Hofstra would have to get there first with basketball (and then do so repeatedly - if only!), but in the competitive NIL era in basketball, I would think those funds would have to go back into the basketball program just to keep it successful in that case.
Finding new ways (like this suggested one) to raise funds for the return of football is a nice idea but not sure that idea would work and not sure Hofstra even wants football back even if it had the funds to bring it back some day.

Only 7 conferences got multiple bids. NIL pushes everything to the top.

It's a lot less about NIL and more how the conference tournaments went this year. Last year, there were a lot of bid stealers in conference tournaments. This year, that didn't happen. That's the main reason a lot of one-bid leagues remained one-bid leagues.
Regular season champs who were all at-large worthy this year, like Memphis, Drake, and UC San Diego, all won their respective conference tournaments this year, so the AAC, MVC, and Big West all stayed at one bid each. Had UAB, Bradley, and UC Irvine won those conference tournaments, those three leagues would have each received multiple bids.

Saw the NIT brackets - not one CAA team. I assume that Towson got invited but must have declined. Surprised that CoC did not get an invite to represent the CAA.

I DON'T THINK THEY WERE INVITED

The NIT invite for winning the regular season conference title is no longer automatic, I believe your team and the conference has to be ranked at a certain level.
It looks like UNCW and Elon (CBI) are the only teams playing postseason basketball.

That's correct. Teams had to win the regular season and be ranked better than 125 over a composite of like 8 ranking metrics (kenpom, bart torvik, etc) in order to auto qualify. All set up to get more high-major teams in it, but of course because of Fox's new high-major only made up postseason tourney "The Crown," there are almost no high major teams who accepted NIT invites
