Bill Theiben's records in just 3 seasons: most points in a game=48 best scoring average for a career= 26.9 most field goals attempted in a game=39 most free throws in a season= 272 Most Rebounds: game=43 season=627 career= 1837 Also remember the college teams then did not play 30 plus games in a season. During the 1955-56 season, the NBA had only EIGHT TEAMS and 12 players on each (East: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Syracuse, West: St.Louis, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Cincinnati) so being drafted was very different. Steve Nisenson and Charles Jenkins plus all the legendary HU athletes deserve to be on our made-up Mount Rushmore. How about a few Mount Rushmores for the various sports? Some sports at HU have been played for a much longer time period. Men's basketball has been played about 90 years since 1936, some other sports, just not that many seasons. There also could be one for legendary coaches at HU like Howdy Meyers (2 sports) Bill Van Breda Kolff, Jay Wright, and Joe Gardi. There is a case for present coaches like Richard Nuttall also. With Hofstra coming up on an important 25-year anniversary of the Mack Arena and the 100th year of the college in 2035, now might be a good time to highlight some of the HU athletic history.

Since I go back a lot of years and mostly watched basketball here Agudio redshirted his true freshman year then played a lot in the following year. JWF WHO WAS always one of my favorite players super exciting to watch got little playing time as a freshman. If he redshirted or played a lot in his first year he certainly could have been the all time leading scorer. In this discussion lets not forget a kid named Rich Laurel who played on the Roger Gaeckler teams in the mid 70's a great player and a first round draft pick in the NBA.

In my 11 and 12 year old eyes Steve Nisenson was amazing. Great shooter. Played just 3 years with freshman not eligible to play varsity ball.
He would own the all time scoring record by a mile if 3 point shooting was an option and freshmen could play. I wonder if there are any videos of Steve's time at Hofstra. He was special.

To Stuball888, You're 100% correct! I completely agree with Coach Edwards deserving a spot. Edit: I was thinking that volleyball coach Fran Kalafer deserves a spot on the mountain also.
