MBB Recruits 2020
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Looks like Hofstra is showing interest in Sloan Seymour, a 6-9 stretch 4 who is transferring from Siena. He averaged 9.1 ppg and made 94 3 point shots as a freshman last year.
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Although he averaged 26 min per game, he was exclusively relied on for 3-pt shooting. Approx 90% of his total shot attempts were from three, he had only 3 free throws all season and was not involved in rebounding. I wonder if he thought he was being misused?HUSID74 wrote:Looks like Hofstra is showing interest in Sloan Seymour, a 6-9 stretch 4 who is transferring from Siena. His Dad is a NCAA coach (assst at Siena, UVa; head coach at Drexel) - aren't we looking for a big and assistant coach too?Cards wrote:Although he averaged 26 min per game, he was exclusively relied on for 3-pt shooting. Kid has a crazy stat line - as previously mentioned shots a ton of 3's; never gets to the line (made 2 of his career 3 FT's vs Hofstra)...hardly rebounds very few assists - crazy numbers for a 6'9" dude.
Ill take'm!

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Interesting theories re this kid Seymour but don't we have a kid named Hughes who's supposed to be our 6'10" 3 point shooter. I know the jury is out on him because he hasn't played a game but maybe this is an indictment on Hughes game?? If this kid Seymour scores 9 points a game and shoots 9 out of 10 from beyond the arc he pretty much hits three 3's a game playing 26 minutes. What's his game on the defensive side of the ball if he doesn't rebound?? Maybe creates problems for the opposing shooters with his height? This is his BIO from Siena's web-site;

Local product starred at Shaker for his final three high school seasons, after beginning his five-year varsity career at Christian Brothers Academy
Named an Albany Times Union Second Team selection following his senior season

Played his AAU basketball for the New York Rens

I don't think Hughes would preclude us from getting another player of similar style. Even if Hughes is great we all always talk about depth. Having two of those type of players would help with depth.triplec2195 wrote:Interesting theories re this kid Seymour but don't we have a kid named Hughes who's supposed to be our 6'10" 3 point shooter. Regarding Seymour hope there is some good stuff we don't know about because on the surface this kids all around game appears to be lacking

Appears to be a taller version of Brian Bernardigaryg wrote:Regarding Seymour hope there is some good stuff we don't know about because on the surface this kids all around game appears to be lacking
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
He's 6-9 and can shoot...will be a matchup problem for virtually all of our opponents...I for would sign him in a heartbeat. Remember, if he comes he will need to sit out the 2019-20 season.

But can he rebound, defend, pass the ball, and score from anywhere else but beyond the arch ????
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
If he comes we'll find out.
Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Yeah guys, this is a no brainer and would be a great grab.
We shoot 3's and play zone. He's 6'9'', shot 37% on 8 attempts a game, and is only a freshman. That's some serious volume and would be an asset to our program.

I'm sure we will all agree that he would be a plus here but just playing a bit of the devil's advocate. We know we would like a two way player but will take the offense for now. He sounds a bit like a Jeremy Miller of NE but clearly scores more.

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Seymour highlights from H.S. He definitely has a nice shooting touch and tries to get the most out of his athletic ability. Does not appear to be a great leaper but has size maybe a Denton Koon type player. https://youtu.be/kTMaMTghYOA

Guess he's pretty good. An A 10 team took him!

HU offers Darrick Jones. Kid has to be careful he does not break his nose on the rim.

I'll take this kid in a heartbeat! Reminds me of Pemberton in HS. Great hops and looks like he can shoot.

Agree HUSID. When I posted the video EP came to my mind also.HUSID74 wrote:I'll take this kid in a heartbeat! Reminds me of Pemberton in HS. Great hops and looks like he can shoot.
I also like that he is at Oak Hill. Reminds me of the situation that Rok was in. Not one of thier top tier guys (who all go on to P5s anyway), but rather a talented guy who might actually choose playing time at a mid rather than sitting at a P5. We shall see.
