I forget how the pairing is done for the CAA playoffs. Who does the 1 seed play?? I obviously want us to win the CAA regular championship this is why I would like to see NE lose another game.HofstraMathew wrote:I'd say we probably want Northeastern to win. Anyone live near the Great Neck area going to the game tonight, who might be able to offer a ride? (my car broke down last night).

I am not nearby but I have taken Uber to a few games, it's rather inexpensive.Wags wrote:Anyone live near the Great Neck area going to the game tonight, who might be able to offer a ride? (my car broke down last night).

Thanks for the pairings Mathew yes unless something drastic happens and we finish first which is not guaranteed as of right now it would be an easier path to the championship. We would wind up playing(semi-finals) Delaware 1 vs 4 and NE would play COC. It would certainly seem to behoove us big time to go thru Delaware to get there then COC. Of course I'm assuming that the current standings remain unchanged.

I don't like being out at night and would never take a job that required me to be at games. Of Hofstra's 17 sports, I could do statistics for six. That's basketball and soccer for both genders, Baseball, and Softball. I could apply to work for a sports website.HofstraHockey wrote: How are you not an SID somewhere??

38-9 Hofstra, Coburn is on FIRE early. More lopsided than the Delaware game so far. Team playing with anger!

Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
Elon finally getting a few points after a dominating 25-2 start for Hofstra.
Started 10/11, Elon 2/12, from the floor.
Tremendous focus after the streak ending.
Mainly been Buie, Taylor and Coburn offensively.

Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
We lead 38-9. We scored 36 points before committing our first foul with 8:43 left in the half. I wonder what the record is for most points before a team committed their first foul. On December 30, 2017, Elon committed their first foul while leading 30-15 hosting Drexel.
Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
Coburn 18 pts on 6/7 fg, all from 3. He went 0/6 from the floor in Boston. Great response.
Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
57-22 at halftime. Can't ask for better focus and a better response after the loss in Boston.
Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
We have as many points as Delaware and Drexel combined, and both of them are winning! Delaware leads Charleston 34-33, Drexel leads UNCW 23-22, and Northeastern leads William & Mary 41-22. Our 11 threes are as many as Elon (3), Charleston (3), UNCW (1), Drexel (1), and William & Mary (3) combined. 4 of the other 7 CAA teams haven't made 11 field goals.
Hofstra is on pace to break these team records for threes:
Player makes in a game (Coburn made 7): 8 by Brian Bernardi in a 96-85 win hosting Canisius in a season-opener on November 13, 2015
Team makes in a game (We made 11): 17 in a 94-84 loss to South Carolina in the U.S. Virgin Islands on November 22, 2015
Team attempts (We made 19 and are on pace to tie our record): 38 in a 98-95 overtime loss at James Madison on February 7, 2016
Our 12 assists are almost halfway to our record of 25. Coburn is on pace for 42. I'm not saying he will reach 40, but if he does it would be the first time we had two players score 40 in one season.

Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
Certainly nothing wrong with dropping 100!! Wowsa
, great bounce back win obviously, team played with fire anger and focus - exactly what you want to see out of this squad after the gut check. HU has played extremely well at home, and we haven't always been blessed to experience that over the years, so this is really fantastic for the fans and the home crowd excitement.
I know Elon played HU very well at their place, and so certainly it's great to see HU put any question to bed like this - emphatic stamp on the series - Elon is really not a very good team at all (hence their record and place in conf) - I think they just shot out of character fantastically in that last game on their floor.
Now HU clearly played out of it's mind tonight, absolutely on a MISSION to prove something - I doubt another match would go exactly like this, but certainly HU is no question the better team. Very happy for these guys, players and staff, and I hope they keep this chip on their shoulder all the way to AND THROUGH cutting nets on to even greater things!
MUCH bigger game on Sat - NU took care of the little napoleons with ease tonight - very interested to see how HU handles them next - I still want no part of NU in Charleston, team is nasty and with a great staff they play HU so tough.
Anyhoo, new streak kicked off with a vengeance - man I do like me some killer instinct like that! Keep it going fellas, see ya again on Sat!
(oh wait I forgot to check with the board rulers, is this post ok?? Let me guess, I'm secretly disappointed we won, my praise is fake, blah blah blah - busted!

Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
What a statement. 102-61.
Great overall play on both sides of the ball. The shooting was great, the ball movement was even better, 25 assists on 37 field goals. It was over at 3-0. Awesome to see the bench get so much burn, and play with great intensity.
That's how a great team rebounds from a tough loss.

Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
Great game especially early from Coburn. I thought for sure he would set our three point record held by Bernardi.
Re: Game 24 vs. Elon
We won 102-61. Radovic's three with 1:27 left tied our team record with 17 threes, and Trueheart's assist to Schutte with 0:55 left tied our team record with 25 assists. Coburn missed a three and didn't score in the second half. He still led all scorers with 21. We had 7 fouls, 1 turnover (by Buie), and 8 steals. When the Sports-Reference College Basketball Play Index updates tomorrow, I'm going to print out that we became the first team since at least 2009-2010 to have 7 or fewer fouls and 0 or 1 turnover; and the first team since at least 2009-2010 to have at least 25 assists, at least 8 steals, and 0 or 1 turnover.
JWF had 16 points and shot well, but he was only our fourth best player IMO. I limited my CAA Lineup of the Day to 3 players per team, so he's not on it. I chose Pemberton, Coburn, Taylor, Vasa Pusica, and Nathan Knight. It was the first time I honored Coburn and Taylor, and Hofstra tied Northeastern for the most players I've honored with five.
Pemberton (9), Tyler Seibring (6), and Steven Santa Ana (3) combined for 18 points. Before tonight, they were combining to average 48.2.
Before tonight, UNCW's Kai Toews had over 20 times as many assists as Trueheart, 188 to 9. Tonight they both had 3.

Nothing left to say...great to see this team DOMINATE from start to finish, and to see EVERYONE get a chance to play!
On the negative side, WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET PEOPLE TO SHOW UP?????
Disappointing turnout IMO.
Nice to meet triplec today!
