Timberlake is a tough player but give NE and Coen a lot of credit. They missed a wide open three that would have made it a two point game. Too bad!

It was 58-57 with 1:40 left. They were right there. Not sure Towson would have survived without Timberlake's 3-point shooting in the second half.
Delaware and Drexel are at the same point at the U12 as at the U16... still 8-4, Blue Hens.

Then they make 9 in a row (5 for Delaware) after combining to start 5/25 (1/11 for Drexel). 18-12, Blue Hens.

Delaware won 66-56. Drexel's Melik Martin became the first player from 2010-2011 to now have no points, at least 8 field goal attempts, at least 10 rebounds, and at least 4 fouls.

(well, it's because they listed all of the teams and it worked out that way alphabetically, but still!).

Was pulling for NU - put up a heckuva fight - I still think Towson is vulnerable, but they muscled out a tough game, kudos to them
Don't like that HU has to play CofC back to back, sure they don't either, but perhaps it works out for the better with their style of play being fresh. Tall task for HU to take this tourney based on what we've seen this year, but I see no clear cut champion, even Towson IMO. If Estrada brings it to epic level, and Cooks shows out like he can and doesn't disappear, then HU has the ability to pull this off.
I am really really hoping that Ray turns his tourney form on starting tonight, perhaps being in the CAAT triggers him in some way. With his experience, he can be the difference maker in this. If not, I think it's going to be a tough run for HU - to win 3 in 3 takes consistency and D, things HU has shown some lack of late. If he can win them a game, then I think the rest could win 1-2 more.
My hope is for HU to get to the champ game - anything can happen then - but win or lose I'd call that appearance a success for this year for this team.
But this first game isn't going to be easy - Cougs will come out swinging, this will take all they have.
This tourney is ALL about defense - HU really needs to step that up now - we're going to find out a lot about this team and staffs readiness maturity and prep in this first game. Regular season is over, this is a fresh start, time to see what they're made of. Go get em guys, ROLL PRIDE!

Hofstra's loss last night created the first-ever "blue/gray" CAA semifinals bracket tonight, with only northern/former America East teams in one semifinal (Delaware/Towson) and only southern teams (Charleston/UNCW) in the other semifinal.

This conference continues to confound. Towson dominates the remainder of that resumed game against Delaware to capture the top seed for the tournament, only to be convincingly outplayed and eliminated as the 1 seed by Delaware.

The Hens are playing well. Jyare Davis, the CAA Rookie of the Year (Providence transfer), is very good, the type of athletic forward we could use. The rest of their lineup is also strong. Hope they win it all.
As for TU losing, just shows how difficult it is to beat a team three times in one season. The Tigers will receive an automatic bid to the NIT because they were the #1 seed.

with 8 minutes left in the first half UNCW leads Charleston 16-12. Yes 12 points in the 12 minutes.

And that was a charge, not a block.

Borderline, but the charge call was consistent with other similar ones called during the game.

That's what defense will do, when you actually care about holding a team under 90.

However, UNCW did go 3-0 against Charleston this year. But that third one was not easy at all tonight.

It just amazes me the kind of games kids like Timberlake have against us and in a game where everything is on the line he shoots 4-13 and 2-8 from three with three rebounds in 37 minutes. Also look at the Charleston game Meeks all world against us and last night he shoots 3-12 playing 31 minutes. He scores 8 points and only shoots two three's hitting 1 because they probably had him smothered every time he touched the ball. NO POINTS for Smart or Faye 3 points for Smith who got them all from the foul line, NO THREE'S!! Hofstra D NEEDS A MAJOR REVAMPING or maybe the kids playing it need a major shakeup. We need kids who want to play D more then just score and shoot THREE'S. TOWSON SHOT 4-23 from beyond due to Delawares D?? Charleston shot 4-13 from beyond and from the foul line 7-13. I think teams just get up for beating Hofstra because these teams were playing speaking in general terms far better against us?? Of course our D lends itself to that for sure.

Like we said, tough to beat a team three times...just look at us and Charleston.
