I saw that Zion Bethea has transferred and wait to see who will graduate and leave Hofstra along with Cooks and Ray. Potentially Simmons and Silverio. I am guessing that 6'6 215 G Missouri transfer and Queens native Sean Durugordon will transfer to Hofstra. He grew up 20 minutes from campus and was being recruited by Speedy for a few years. Hofstra finished in his final 8 and would allow to get immediate minutes just like D-Stone Dubar.

This is a bold prediction considering he has and is pursued by P5 programs. Do you know anything concrete or is this just wishful thinking?? He also logistically is quite near St Johns.

It is wishful thinking but it would follow a recent pattern of local kids like Kante & Estrada who went to P5 schools, didn’t play, & then transferred to start at Hofstra. I don’t think St John’s is in the mix since they weren’t in his final 8. I think he looks at the immediate impact guys like Dubar & Estrada have had under Speedy and thinks he will get the same opportunity.

I think there's a motivation to possibly come here but just how compelling is that motivation. Can Speedy bring him here is anybodies guess??

This kid was the #4 best recruit out of Connecticut his graduating year and some services had him ranked as a 4 star recruit for what that's worth. It would be a very strong get but are we even in the mix?

This was from an interview with Sean on Zagsblog in June of 2020:
Hofstra: “They’re my hometown school, about 20 minutes from me. I’ve actually been in contact with Hofstra for about two years now. They recently offered back in April, but we’ve been talking for the past two years now, really building a relationship with coach [Speedy] Claxton. I recently talked with their head coach, coach [Joe] Mihalich. They’ve just been talking to me a lot, trying to build that relationship. They’ve been saying I could come there, stay in my hometown and really make a name for myself. They can also really develop my game because they know I want to make the NBA. They’re saying they can get me there if I continue to work. They’ve been saying I could come there and be the hometown hero.”
Hopefully he still feels the same way and wants to be the hometown hero.

Yes hopefully that gives us a leg up on his recruiting. He would seem to be a good fit and start here.

This would be a great fit for him like the big fish in a small pond.

If Durugordon comes to Hofstra that would give us 3 really nice players...Durugordon...Dubar...and Estrada

Whoo, that would be a heckuva pickup - kid can ball - would eat up this conf - 7 foot wingspan, yes please
He seems to be a high character young man, good head on his shoulders - HU might have a shot - he doesn't seem fully enamored by just the big lights, is looking for a true home and a future with a staff he can trust.
We'll see - but I guy like him would boost the outlook for next year considerably.

As noted in a different thread:
3/8/2022 - 2019 PG Caleb Burgess (6-3, 170, 2★) will be transferring.
3/8/2022 - 2019 SF Kvonn Cramer (6-6, 205, 2★) will be transferring.

So with another season that we come away empty in terms of a NCAA appearance let's lament and talk about who's going to finally get us back there besides Estrada?? I'll take the transfer from Missouri. Here he becomes an instant starter and star. What r the chances??

THANK GOD! I was actually writing off next season figuring he would be getting even more minutes next season had he stuck around. Good luck in D3.
As for Cramer, bummer he is moving on because he can be a very valuable piece if used correctly. Didnt seem like the staff wanted to use him much at the 3 or the 4 amd I dont believe he was goimg to thicken up enough to become an Adrian Uter type player at the 5.

Not sure if this has been reported elsewhere on this forum but I came across this article today and definitely puts into perspective Speedy’s commitment when it comes to recruiting. Also, Farmer seems like a great add with good intangibles!

This article mentions a game yesterday vs. Haverford. Roman Catholic won, 59-49, and advances to play Bensalem tomorrow. Farmer contributed 13 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Hopefully his game translates to D1 college basketball. We’ll see also about Carlos next year.

He didn't seem happy with his playing time earlier this season and is no guarantee to return
