MBB Recruits 2021
Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Not even worried about the Kante replacement as much anymore (although it's a huge need), the concern is this team can't score. There are ZERO offensive weapons returning, and none waiting in the wings. THIS years team couldn't score consistently worth a lick, where's it coming from next year?
HU will be very easy to defend - triple Kante and watch the rest brick 3's. This team needs SHOOTERS and big time BUCKET-GETTERS asap.

Can Jalen and Tariq come back for another year due to Covid-19? And, if so, any word on that?

To Mikey 77, Yes, they can come back.
Re: MBB Recruits 2021
If Ray returns they'll have the highest scoring backcourt in the conference next year. I don't expect Coburn or Trueheart to return, they already redshirted a year.Polito wrote:Not even worried about the Kante replacement as much anymore (although it's a huge need), the concern is this team can't score. Also expecting significant improvement from Green, and better shooting from Masic, Bethea, and Burgess.

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
looks like he graduated in 2020?? Also saw some video playing against terrible competition where at 6'4" he looked to be the biggest guy on the court.stuball888 wrote:Maybe someone can help me here Just ran across thus combo guard from Byram Hills high school in Westchester he pours in 23.3 per game snd has 13.7 boards a game sounds like the instant offense we need BTW his name is Mike Parratta

I guess you never know for sure. Collin Gillespie (Villanova), Big East player of the year had no D1 offers his senior year in HS.
But did Parratta graduate already (2020)?

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Cards as a matter of fact Hofstra offered Gillespie first and people on this board panned the pick. Some were saying maybe he is a walk-on lol.
Villanova came in late and the rest is history.

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Yep, it was between HU and Nova, HU was first, but of course when Nova and Wright come calling you gotta make that move - he was a very under the radar guy, had decent numbers but nothing that really jumped out as a future star - kudos to JM and company for always having a tremendous eye for talent.

One thing for certain, the best thing so far about keeping and elevating Speedy is hanging on to this stud - podcast interview with JC:
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/u ... 1534338992
If Speedy and his future staff can build a real team around him, that's is HU best and likely only hope to make the dance anytime soon. Kid is going to be a superstar in the CAA.

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
I wonder if we are looking at any of these local players:
https://www.newsday.com/sports/high-sch ... 1.50209165
If you can't read the article, I will post the list.
Newsday's Player of the Year is Jordan Riley of Brentwood. He averaged 31.7 points and five assists a game this year.
Newsday says:
***Riley announced his commitment in July to play at Georgetown for NBA Hall of Famer and Knicks legend Patrick Ewing. Riley, at 6-4, brings a physical and mental toughness to the Georgetown program. "They want to have alpha dogs out there," [Brentwood Coach Anthony] Jimenez said, "and he’s going to fit right into that high-energy, physical type of defense that they want to play."***
Sounds like Speedy's approach, too.

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Speedy reiterated today I believe during WFAN interview that they are looking for transfers for this year experienced seasoned players that can IMMEDIATELY play at this level not H.S. players so we'll see what we can get from the transfer portal.

Is he still committed to Gtown?Jojogunne wrote:I wonder if we are looking at any of these local players:

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Riley is a stud, I'm sure HU recruited him in some manner, but it was pretty clear early on that he was going big. Although whether or not that works out we shall see. Ewing has attracted some great talent, but the results have not been what the fanbase expected, save finally making the NCAAT last year.
PS Carlos has already gone toe to toe with him and gave him a show, which is exciting for us of course
Great quote from Riley:
Exactly what I talk about on a yearly basis. And sounds like Speedy is going to run a program that brings a similar old school NY in your face approach - and I'm 100% on board for that to become a reality.

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
IDK about everybody else but I'm very excited/anxious to see who will be the very first commit here as Speedy takes over the reigns. We know he was a solid recruiter as a coach here but will his now HC status elevate him to a new recruiting level?? I can't wait to see how this plays out!
Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Excited to see who he can bring in and hopefully also is able to keep guys around as well as the last staff. Not expecting anyone to transfer out because of this change but you never know.triplec2195 wrote:IDK about everybody else but I'm very excited/anxious to see who will be the very first commit here as Speedy takes over the reigns. Speedy was on MSG PM last night and essentially confirmed that Ray will be returning! Tidbit comes at around the 4:15 mark: https://www.msgnetworks.com/videos/spee ... f-hofstra/
