High point is clearly the top school in the Big South and they will not be there for much longer. It’s clear that they have some real aspirations for moving up.

This is probably all about money for him as he’s really going down in terms of competition and play. The CAA is still way ahead of the Big South besides maybe High Point.

Saw a couple of weeks ago that High Points first game of the year is on their campus against Liberty at 12AM. That’s kind of cool

Yes, especially after coming close to making the Sweet 16 this year, this is clearly not their high point yet. :D

They have a lot of money to spend. Their campus is beautiful and they have a very nice arena, especially for a Big South team.

They have quickly come a long way since we beat them in OT in that Florida Gulf Coast Showcase event two years ago.

Rob Martin, who had that 30-point duel with Acuff in the NCAAT, is a senior. Not sure if he has any eligibility left, but if not, Rivera-Torres could be a decent replacement as a top scorer.

Our worst nightmare may be realized with Cruz putting his name in the portal with possible intent to transfer. Ugh too good to be true!!

Just saw the same news. Was expecting it after Preston but still was holding out hope.

I'll take the high road on this right now that maybe Cruz is calling our bluff telling the staff to show him the real money. I know I'm a dreamer but nice to dream until the dream is shattered!

He's gone. This doesn't sound like he's calling a bluff. It sounds like he's in the portal to move on.

12 players from this season are gone, including the POY and ROY. Back to Square One weeks after finally dancing again. This era sucks. Speedy must be so frustrated. Who could blame him?

It will be like this every year now. College hoops for schools like Hofstra is now pickup ball at the park, only even worse, because you don't stay on if you win. You put together the best squad you can, win, and then put together a new team right after. Be grateful you got to witness the career development of Speedy, Agudio, Stokes, Jenkins, JWF, Buie. We'll never see that again.

This all sucks, especially after the high or winning the CAA and dancing...unfortunately college sports is broken and I fear it will never be the same.

All that's left is to cheer for the laundry...no more opportunities to watch kids develop...real shame.

Yep just sucks. Not much else to say.

Maybe Jaeden Roberts reconsiders and comes back now that Edmead and Cruz are gone but who knows.

The only silver lining would be what can they go get now with however much money was in the budget for Cruz, which im sure wasnt insignificant.

But cant fault Cruz or the school. Just a broken system

Doubt it. I was in the minority here when I said during the season that he'd be gone. Even though he didn't sulk and he remained a very supportive teammate to the end, (I could be wrong) but I sensed that he felt he was underused, and he was. He was used very inconsistently and then very little down the stretch. Would love to see him return, but I think his mind was made up then and I don't think Edmead and Davis being gone would change that vs. a fresh start elsewhere.

Who is exactly on the team right now but we have four players we need to bring an 11 New players
Is that correct?

Very disheartening and the current world of the revolving door syndrome. I wonder how much we paid to get the 7' center?

Legislation is needed and being considered as we write to try to stabilize the Wild Wild West that currently exists in college sports and will be coming down the pike but how long will it take for this to become reality because this crap is just off the rails and getting worse!!

If nothing changes that's correct and there's over 2000 players in the portal. The numbers at least are in our favor.

sadly in this climate if you can keep a standout player for two years like Cruz that is major win for a midmajor. While it sucks to lose him today I am grateful we got the forever memories of a CAA title/NCAA appearance from him and in my book he should go down among the Hofstra greats despite the abridged time here. I also very much appreciate having German here for four years which we truly not see much of going forward.
