On the season, he averages an incredible 11.5 rebounds per game, and in conference games, it's even more insane at 14.1.
He also leads the conference in double-doubles, despite not having one last night. It helped that Delaware's Marvin King-Davis didn't have one either, since he has the second most. The 21 rebounds were a career high for Gustys.

the fact he lost another double-double by 1 damn point because this team failed to get the ball to him for ENTIRE half is a complete DISGRACE.

Just disgusting. Inexcusable.

Equally inexcusable is a high-impact D-1 starting center going 1/5 at the line in a 3-point loss.

With all due respect, I have to disagree wags. Remember that RG has only become the high impact player we all see over the past 6-8 weeks. Give the guy a break - at the beginning of the season most on this board were hoping he could get 10 boards and 6-8 pts a game. I would rather have no other big man in the CAA bringing RGs type of game to HU MBB...poor FT shooting and all!

Is it inexcusable for BB to be shooting the % that he is?
Is it inexcusable for JG to go on 3 point shooting binges when his strengths are in other areas?
Was it inexcusable when AT had a stretch of poor play earlier in the season?
These guys are supposed to be the experienced leaders and guys you can always depend on. Don't hang this loss on RG FT shooting. Would you prefer RG meet the low expectations most on the board had as long as he shoot 70% at the line? I think NOT.

Great article on RG in the NY Post. I actually think it's better than the one that was in Newsday the other day. This discusses his journey to one of the best high school basketball programs in the country, as well as why he chose Hofstra. The article also puts us at 4th in the local power poll.

Barring a total RG collapse, and assuming there are not more political games amongst CAA coaches than are played in Wash DC, RG will be 1st team all CAA. How long has it been since, or has it ever happened that a soph makes 1st team?

If his current numbers stay where they, or even drop a little, RG will set new all-time CAA season averages for Field Goal % and Rebounding. Regarding rebounding, at over 14 rpg, RG will shatter the current record, held by none other than David Robinson. That's pretty cool!! Go Rok!

And the best part is, he's only a sophomore! If/when he breaks the current records, he still has 2 more years to shatter his own records.
Imagine if he didn't get injured last year, and was healthy for the whole season. Have to imagine he would've been rookie of the year, and on a preseason team this year.

So excited for and proud of this young man - and kudos to Coach Akbar - tremendous transformation - HU having the best big in the CAA is something many thought would never happen - I NEVER bought that recruiting excuse, and extremely happy to see this staff both recruit and develop the way they have

RG is another guy you can build a team around, and that is VERY exciting for the future - losing Green, Tanksley, and of course Nichols will obviously be tough - but having a guy like RG, who will be a top POY candidate next yr after amazingly working his way into the conversation this year, is a tremendous advantage - props where it's due, to both RG and the staff

Would L O V E to see HU produce an NBA big!!! Can you imagine, from Guard U?? :D - oh the joy that would bring me, and the fruit on the recruiting trail would be sweeter than I can handle!

Very exciting to watch the development of Rokas...also he seems to be the kind if kid that wants to get even better...he has that type of makeup....he is not happy with just a double-double....he wants 20pts 15 rebounds and a Hofstra victory...gotta love this kid....

Regardless of met or unmet expectations, these young men are awesome - I'm SO proud of the guys that this staff is bringing in - they are great quality, great character, great students, great citizens, I mean just night and day from where this program once was - and the staff is doing it right - it really feels great to be an HU fan

As passionate as I get for results, there is NO WAY anyone can not fall in love with this team and root like hell for these guys

They work their butts off, they clearly leave it all on the floor, and they deserve every bit of success they've had and all that is still to come.

100%, yet at the same time he'd be glad to have 10 & 10 in a win than 20 & 20 in a loss -- yet he also knows that to get the win, he needs to put up a lot more than 10 & 10. And that's exactly the right mix of humility, selflessness and team-first mentality tempered by a strong work ethic, fire and competitiveness that you want in any player. He's been perfect for them (aside from the free throw shooting). If he were ever to get that up to a respectable number, he would be unstoppable for 40 minutes every night. Granted, he's not taking jumpers, but so what. Efficiency is efficiency. And it seems he starts every game about 6/7 or so and ends up about 8/10, 10/12, 12/16, etc. He's over 63% from the floor this season. His production has been off the charts. Just think what he can still become with two years left. Just add some post moves to what he already brings down low and work a lot of the FTs, Rok, and you will be playing this game for a living later on -- might be too short, might not be, and the footwork might have to improve for the NBA (we'll see), but he certainly at the very least, can have a high impact career in Europe for a long time to come with good health.

18 points, 21 rebounds tonight. The kid is insane. With his 15th double-double today, he broke Hofstra's record for double-doubles in a season in the CAA era.

At this rate, Gustys could win CAA player of the year instead of Green.. Both players have been great.

He should have had another 20-20 today. With 20 seconds left in the game, on a semi fast break, JG was about 30 ft from the basket and RG was completely all alone under the basket. JG held the ball (I guess not wanting to run up the score). But Delaware was in foul mode anyway, so they fouled JG, and we got the pts anyway. he should have simply passed it to RG for an easy layup and Delaware would have gotten the ball back anyway. I gotta assume JG did not know RG only needed 2 pts for the 20-20.

Should be another player-of-the-week coming for RG. He had 25 pts 15 reb on Thursday and 18 pts 21 reb tonight. Averaged 21.5 pts and 18 rebs for the week. Mind Numbing!
