We have so many new players and former reserves who have not yet proved themselves, the poll is not surprising. Maybe Sanders and Plotnikov are worthy of honorable mention? I don’t know. Let’s see where we stand next March.

Agreed that Sanders should at least be honorable mention, maybe Plotnikov as well. Not logical to be a top 4 team without any of the top 19 players.

Preseason awards don't matter. It's just motivation to prove the naysayers wrong ON THE COURT!

This is a team with no identity… YET But this will change and if anyone listened to his interview during media day he’s not exuding any major confidence about this team. He didn’t mention who he thought his PG would be. Kind of tempered expectations re Sanders who everyone thinks will be the go to guy. He even said he has to lose his LAZY HABITS. That is speaking volumes but be sure that Speedy will do his best to give us a competitive team.

Do you think Speedy usually exhibits confidence in the team or is he always pretty reserved when it comes to expectations? And that was like his 2nd interview mentioning Sanders lazy habits

Agree Speedy definitely taking the tough love approach when talking about Sanders publicly so far. Though it does seem Sanders is generating a lot more buzz than Cruz Davis if we're looking for the player most likely to break out as the new alpha.

In general Speedy has never been the biggest rah rah guy, but I was a little taken aback at how little confidence he seemed to have in the roster at this point. But with the amount of turnover I get it, he's probably feeling the strain of this new era just like everyone else. Look at Tony Bennett suddenly retiring at Virginia

He did say when pressed that Jean Aranguren has impressed people in the early going. This looks like a team that has a lot of the same size puzzle pieces that hopefully will be interchangeable. You won’t have 4 players standing around watching someone playing one on one every time down the court. Lots of Indians and no chiefs. This could be real positive with kids sharing the ball.

I love the tough love on Sanders... Former 4 star recruit, coming from a high-major where he didn't do much... Let's put some pressure on his expectations and see if he steps up or gets discouraged.

I'd also bet that Speedy saw that 4th place projection and was hoping it would be lower. We return nothing but question marks this year so low expectations wouldn't have been a bad thing-- props to us for having a system, coaching staff, and reputation to garner 4th place pre-season ranking in a 14 team league.

Lastly, the theme I heard loud and clear is this team will need a lot of time to gel and grow throughout the year... nothing like #4 Houston in a month to really jolt the system

I even remember Joe Michalich not wanting to be picked first in the conference. Nobody wants the bullseye on their back which gives teams and added incentive to beat you. We’ve seen over the years that these predictions are very often wrong very wrong.

So I renewed recently to watch our women's soccer team lose to Monmouth and paid $107.88 for the year or $8.99 a month. Is that what others paid??

I pay for five months from November through March. I pay $9.99 * 5 = $49.95 plus tax.
