I can see this senario
We play each team twice in the northern division and one game each in the southern division
That gives us 16 conference games
We can easily add two OOC games locally with either LIU and Wagner
Would even like to see Bryant St Peters or Rutgers

So there are 13 teams now?
Hofstra
Drexel
Delaware
Towson
William & Mary
Northeastern
Elon
UNCW
Charleston
lose JMU
add Stony Brook
add Monmouth
add Hampton
add NC A&T
?
will be tough to keep 12th best conference rankings
http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Men.html
those last two teams they added were really bad last year (plus w&m)

Sigh... its all you can do folks. Some of you finally coming around seeing this for what it is... some still hanging on tight to an empty sack. Gonna be a rough day of realization when all eyes open. I'll be here to support you though - we all wake up to reality at different times
Meanwhile, other schools making moves to better themselves. Always seems to be someone else making moves. HU continues to just sit around with it's thumb up its ... flowing with the wind - and now it's been sitting around for so long it has no moves left to make.
Yeehaw.
So now we get to see which program will win the CAA and make the NCAAT first, HU or SBU? How exciting. Can you imagine the day SBU sends HU home as a conf newbie?? Whoa boy. Speedy better elevate this program. And it takes more than tough talk.

Looks like Howard will also be joining the CAA soon according to this article
https://hbcugameday.com/2022/04/16/sour ... ce-change/
Would be decent addition for basketball and a solid academic school, but would hurt RPI wise in other sports where we compete for NCAA tTourney at-large bids, especially women's lacrosse.

Awful.
Howard is a decent basketball program? Since when? They haven't been relevant since 1992. 1992. That's worse than HU. Only better than W&M, which we know is a terrible bar. Some of this board wasn't even alive then.
They bring a very strong academic reputation, a location in the CAA 'zone', and they bring a unique aspect of being an HBCU, for whatever that's worth - which if we can be adult here, doesn't have a darn thing to do with elevating CAA athletics. I fail to see how any of this is some big benefit or great fit for the CAA and it's sports prowess.
This is a desperation move, just like the rest of the expansion. This conf ranking and reputation will continue to go down, eventually so will the tourney seed, and HU's odds of making the dance with any regularity are going right down with it. Can barely win this thing as it is.
Dilution in full effect. No matter how much lipstick people try to put on this pig, it's still a pig. And getting uglier by the day.

Looks like Howard U confirmed to the MEAC. Does this now open the spot for another college, or does the CAA stay at 13?

For Hofstra, better if they stay at 13. That way if they finish in the top 3 in the conference, they'd get a bye into the quarterfinal and the extra teams don't make a difference for the # of games they have to play in the conference tourney.
If they go to 14 teams, only 2 teams would get a bye to the quarterfinals, everyone else would have to play 4 games.

They are def going to 14 teams either way since no way they keep it as odd number. I would love Quinnipiac or Fairfield for geography purposes and would provide a school in between Northeastern and Hofstra.

I would rather see Fairfield since we have a history with them I remember going back to the David Taylor days and playing them in shootout games where D was optional. I don't see what Quinnipiac brings to the table other then it's a good academic school.

We also already have Fairfield in CAA for men's lacrosse as well and play them often in other sports since so close.

A lot of talk on the Fairfield board that they are seriously thinking of leaving the CAA for lacrosse and joining the new Atlantic-10 lacrosse league along with UMass. The thinking is that the A-10 might eventually lose some schools to the Big East, and FU might get a full A-10 invite.

More power to them but playing basketball in that league would be a rough ride for Fairfield. Just ask Fordham among others.

We will add a southern school
CAA already has 7 northern teams
My guess is one from South Carolina
What do you guys think about Winthrop

Could do worst, but would much prefer Furman or Wofford.

Few comments:
What happened to Howard joining the CAA? That just went up in smoke? I can't figure this stuff out at all - seems like the CAA and others are just scrambling around trying to add teams... so stupid. It's not going to help. Glad they didn't join, but no one said anything about them going from joining to confirmed elsewhere
QU is really not a fit for the CAA.
Fairfield would (sadly) make sense for this new bigger further watered down CAA. They do actually fit the profile fairly well in a number of sports and other aspects.
If Fairfield thinks they are ever getting a full invite to the A10, lol, let's also sell them a fake membership to the CAA and heck the ACC too since they must be in a mental coma. Never happening. Goodness. If HU isn't getting one, they darn sure aren't. Fairfield is an AE / NEC level sports program. Which is coincidentally just about the level this new joke of a CAA will be. If the A10 adds them their leadership should be fired. And I bet half the A10 would promptly exit, which would turn the A10 into the CAA lol. Highly highly doubtful scenario. But no issue with them dreaming the dream!
Winthrop is a nice small school with good athletics and academics for their level. Would bring some quality to hoops, and they have had a lot of consistent success across a few key sports in the Big South.
Wofford would be good, especially for hoops - but outside of football their other sports haven't done much at all.
Furman would be intriguing... BUT they sadly discontinued baseball and mens lax in '20. That diminishes the value to HU a tad. But they bring some nice pedigree and mid major name recognition overall.
Not sure either Wofford or Furman would leave the Southern Conf individually though - they are great natural rivals in the same part of SC.

Disappointing about Howard as it would be good to have a DC team but I would not have a problem with Fairfield or Quinnipiac.

Just don't know why we would want Quinnipiac in this league? They haven't been D-1 all that long and athletically what do they bring to the table? Their ice hockey team or their women's basketball program that went to the sweet 16. Just don't think they're a good fit here. Academically they're a good school but we're talking sports.

Qiunnipiac is spending a ton on sports...they have good facilities and they spent big on men's basketball with no real success...yet. Brought in a former Assist from Villanova and then paid Tom Pecora a ton to mentor him.
