I wonder how many of Houston's starters were playing in the second half, lol! Remember this he said we should now "DOMINATE" MOVING FORWARD. WE SHALL SEE!!
Well triplec, what do you expect him to say? He's not about to throw this team under the bus in the first weeks of the season...we were clearly overmatched in this game and came out tentative AGAIN...they used a half court trap and it looked like we never saw it...the passing was atrocious and then it spiraled out of control.

This is the worst Hofstra game I can remember since Roger Gaeckler's debut against Temple at Temple...We lost 80-48! Hope to never see another one like this for the rest of my life!
I'm with you HUSID very disheartening this can take the wind out of your sails but quick. Yeah Speedy has to stick up for the team obviously and it makes you wonder whether we should have played this game?

I did not realize that Aranguren did not score. Houston also went 12-for-24 from the arc.

We still need to work on inbounding the ball and beating the press.

I think it was fine that we played the game; God knows we need the guarantee, but this early in the season and adding Florida State to mix we obviously were not ready for prime time!

This week's opponents will give us a much better sense of where we stand.

We don't have to go that far back. These were just about as bad in recent years (the Elon one was the worst because unlike this loss at Houston and the others below, that one was inexplicable):

Nov. 2022: 76-48 at Saint Mary's
Feb. 2022: 81-55 to Elon at home (nine days after Silverio's 40-point game in a 33-point win at Elon!)
Jan. 2020: 88-61 to William & Mary (on the 20th anniversary of Hofstra Arena/The Mack); 45-23 at halftime; HU won at W&M by 23 a month later.
Dec. 2019: 73-45 at St. Bonaventure

Charleston is somehow losing to Rhode Island 45-16 at the half right now. So in that context maybe this Houston game wasn't so bad.

But in all seriousness, Speedy celebrating only being outscored by the Houston bench by 6 in the 2nd half in a game where it took Hofstra to their final possession to have more made FG than turnovers is pretty laughable

Houston is #1 IN THE COUNTRY on Ken Pom, has one of the most tenacious defenses we'll ever see, and came ready to dominate.

It was hard to watch, but IMO, was a great game for the guys. You know who won't look so scary in comparison to Houston? Charleston, UNCW, NU, UDEL, and Towson :-)

Losing by a lot is never great, but this level of defensive intensity is something this young, brand new team won't see again this year and should make every other opponent seem a little less intimidating.

Let's hope they come to a difficult game against Rice ready for payback and retribution.

I think that's why Speedy and his staff always look to schedule these games. Once you they go against that, there's only one place for the confidence to go (up) when they face even the toughest defenses in the CAA.
