His name is John Rooney, he's a pitcher/first baseman from Hoosic Valley, and, oh yes, he's also the NYS Class C Baseball Player of the Year:

Hey you never know he could be a walk-on with the mens basketball team. Could be a good practice player. Nice to see coach Russo getting top quality recruits to come to Hofstra. I wonder if Gustys or Walker can pitch. Nothing like a 6ft9 and 6ft10 guy on the mound to intimidate opposing batters.

He can't be a walk-on for the basketball team if he gets a baseball scholarship. Any athletic scholarship that he gets counts towards the basketball total, regardless if that's where he gets it from. That's ok for now, when it doesn't appear that they'll be near their total.
