Re: NCAA Tournament Thread
That's where I believe it is heading I do not. March Maddness is not March Madness withou the midmajors and the ones who run everything know that. Like I said before not enough teams in the power 4-5 leagues alone to compose a 76 or 96 team field so will always be midmajors in it even if means play...

Re: Suggestion for New meet ups
So after receiving only 2 responses WE will cancel tomorrows meetup. The next one will be in June at the same restaurant I will post the weeks and days and lets see if we can get at least 10 of us out of 40 who can attend will keep you posted Is too bad but sounds like right call. Hopefully plenty ...

Re: Suggestion for New meet ups
Stu, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the meet-ups, though not sure what you want to achieve. If I decide to attend in the future, I will let you know. Assume no response = not attending. Thanks. It doesn't have always be about "achieving" something as meeting up with fellow Hofstra fans ...

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread
The big conferences that control the NCAA want to eliminate mid-majors from ALL tournaments. Greed is good. I don't think will get to that point. There are 68 Power 4 teams and if you count Big East is 79. Even if they went to 96 teams no chance midmajors aren't part of it and would be shoc...

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread
Won't be all from Power 4 but could def see 96 teams eventually. NIT is basically useless at this point so could also see that going away.stuball888 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 4:49 pm Mark my words Wags it will expand to 96 team
All will be from the power 5
All midd majors relegated to the NIT with 64 teams

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
They are definitely moving forward with this project. Also the new lacrosse stadium will hold 8k - 10k. They want to keep it big so they don’t lose revenue from hosting outside events. They make a good chunk of money off that. It would be great if they can still host NCAA quarterfinals as that is g...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
Other schools use soccer and lacrosse as same venue but those are usually schools eith either minimal resources or lack of space and those generatr major issues in terms of locker space, training and other logistics. They will 1000% be building new facility for lacrosse as Poser has already stated c...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
The new stadium am sure would probably only be about half the size if that of Shuart. If you listen to recent podcasts hosted by President Poser the mixed-use village at Shuart and building new stadium on north campus sounds like all but a done deal. As example here is link to podcast Poser did with...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
Was on Inside Lacrosse and one poster stated that Hofstra is deemphasizing lacrosse (meaning men's lax) and that Tierney has basically given up on recruiting. Not sure where he got that from or who he even is but given the state of the program and the results on the field can't say he's wrong. Pose...

Re: Coaching Carousel
Pretty Crazy to leave 1 coach who just won a CAA championship in his 5th season to go back to work for a coach that couldn't accomplish that once in 9 years. I know its about $$$ but still In this case I bet it isn't about money and more about chance to reunite with longtime friend and have a large...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
is annoying as a Stony Brook hater but I certainly give credit where credi is due. That was very good Towson team mlax beat and same one that throttled us a week earlier.triplec2195 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2026 12:34 pm Both their programs going to the tourney how about that!

Re: Coaching Carousel
I heard it was his choice and will have a larger role there. Am sure timing felt right after winning CAA and good chance for him to reunite with Tom. Will miss him as he did wonders with developing big men over the years, esp.. Silas, and love his Eastern European recruiting connections that brought...

Re: Women's Lacrosse 2026
They just couldn't get over the hump in this one. Is too bad since would have been big step to be on CAA finals stage even though very little chance of a win in it. Tommorow should be a solid team though and here is a nice feature on Mennella where she talks about plans to return https://www.usalacr...

Re: Women's Lacrosse 2026
top 30 wins is big metric used by NCAA committee. I think 15 to 30 is that sweet spot as those are winnable games whereas top 10 often are not. Either way a tougher schedule is a positive as would bolster our RPI and SOS.

Re: Women's Lacrosse 2026
Schedule was def not "cupcakes" as Fairfield, Rutgers and Princeton are all in the RPI top 30. If you win two of those and don't lose to Siena to start season we are in mix for at-large this season. I would like to see more quality opponents added for next season though, esp. being Nikki's...

Re: Women's Lacrosse 2026
Very well deserved awards all around. Unfortunately Stony Brook is at another level but hopefully we can still beat Towson today since reaching CAA finals stage would be good step for program. With Mennella coming back for redshirt season hopefully next year we can position ourselves for. possible N...

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread
If NCAA was smart they would have opening round games be largely final at larges from power leagues since better ratings and would help them get better TV deal but more likely they will use as way to reduce midmjaors when you get to main part of draw. This makes that 2026 CAA title run that much mor...

Re: Men's Lacrosse 2026
If The Head coach is changed, no doubt there will be a search committee and a pool of potential candidates. If and when it will be a very important and potentially program saving hire. Seth is Team USA coach for next year's world championships so am guessing nothing happens before then. 1 hes not g...
