Re: Game 6 vs St Bonaventure
Bonnies will be a tremendous test...they are experienced and strong on both sides of the ball. I like that this OOC schedule is a step up in competition in an otherwise truncated year. It's all about acclimating quickly, and we'll enter conference play battle-tested and used to going up against big,...

Re: Now its game 5 against Monmouth
A big part of this year is going to be finding point guard play, so crucial to any NCAA offense -- we all expected Cowart to provide it, and now that he's gone we'll need Burgess to grow in a big way. I still have faith that he is going to get there and develop into a defense-first floor general, an...

Re: Game 4 vs. Iona, 12/5/20, 4 PM on Flosports
Don't know a ton about Iona's roster but yes they look pretty big and have some athletes. Nelly Junior Joseph, a 6'9 FR from Africa who put up 9/6 against Seton Hall, should test Kante. Isaiah Ross can really shoot but advanced stats say he is a sieve on defense. Should be a fun matchup for two NY t...

Re: Game 3 Fairleigh Dickinson, 11/30/20, 7 PM on Flosports
Outstanding defense? Can't hit water if they fell off a boat? Who are these people and what have they done to my Hofstra basketball team. Cramer, Burgess & Co. going to give a lot of offenses fits this year. They're the most disruptive Hofstra defense I've ever seen. On the other side, shooting ...

Re: Game 3 Fairleigh Dickinson, 11/30/20, 7 PM on Flosports
FDU has some potent offense but their defense is shaky. Fair test for us on a back-to-back, though no one played more than 30 mins last night. FDU lost to Rutgers on Friday 96-75. Looking for: -One of the PGs to assert himself and manage the offense. Doesn't need to score a lot, just don't turn the ...

Re: Game 2 @ Rutgers, 11/29/20, 4 PM on BTN
It's tough to take a lot away from a game like today...Rutgers defense by KenPom is 15th in the country, and you could see our guys were trying to figure it out on the fly. Hell, last year we dropped the opener at home to San Jose St. and put it together as the year went on, hoping for something sim...

Re: Game 2 @ Rutgers, 11/29/20, 4 PM on BTN
As I look at my favorite newspaper Newsday(not) I see we are 14.5 point DOGS against Rutgers? IDK what to think about that but maybe very sobering considering they have played two games and we haven't played any and the fact that we are replacing our backcourt which produced almost 36 points a game...

Re: Claxton and Curtin Chronicles
Agreed the question is who will make the scoring leap...last year we saw Buie go from 10 ppg to 18 and you could always count on Pemberton for 15-20 a night. The points are out there to be had. I can see Jalen making a leap, maybe Green is a stud right away, or Kante really starts eating and putting...

Re: NBA draft
Buie feels like a guy who could have a very long, successful career in Europe. His IQ + craftiness really fit the ball distribution playstyle that lots of Euro teams run. Pemberton could definitely contribute on many G-league teams and is a hard worker...who knows? There are so many fringe 3&D t...

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
My understanding is because of Covid, seniors will be permitted to return for another year and that JR and TC are choosing to do so which means we are out of scholarships and will have quite a surplus of guards next year. Is this true? I haven't seem something like this but maybe I missed it. And F...

Re: Claxton and Curtin Chronicles
Really interesting stuff, thanks for sharing triplec. Sounds like Trueheart is on the outs for minutes, which I know many of us (not me) predicted. What they're saying about Green is promising, a 6'7 guy with true guard skills is a nightmare mismatch in the CAA. Bethea and Vukasin still developing i...

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
What a pickup. Not like these rankings necessarily mean much, but 42nd PG nationally and 6th ranked player in the state. Buie, for reference, was 62/8. You have to love the caliber of talent that the staff is bringing in...I trust our development to make at least some of the Cramer/Green/Bethea/Carl...

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
Love seeing us in on high-profile PGs. Cowart/Burgess/Bethea/2021 PG is a lot of commitment for the position. But I like the idea of going best player available, focusing on NYC guys, and seeing who among that cohort of young PGs can carve out their role as the future of the team. It seems like mayb...

Re: Looking Ahead to 2020-2021 season
Bumping this thread up to talk roster projections. I think we all know at this point Joe is only going to run 7 guys deep most of the time -- the starting 5, some 6th man and a backup big. I think this team has an unusual degree of depth (or looked at more pessimistically, a lot of question marks) a...

Re: MBB Recruits 2020
Really high quality player if he's healthy. Shot the three really well before his injury in his Junior year. That list of schools he's considering should say it all. BUT, do we need more guards for this year? He's a one and done... Betley seems like a bigger guard, maybe even more of a wing. 6'5 wi...

Re: MBB: 2020 CAA Finals - The Rematch
If you told me after the San Jose game that this team would be cutting down nets, I would have laughed in your face. Credit to the players and staff for getting better throughout the year and always staying in control. It doesn't feel real yet.
