Opening game on 8/25 Hofstra opens season with an upset win over Syracuse (ranked #15) 2-1.
Jr. Joseph Holland and Soph Harry Crayton did the scoring while Sr. goalkeeper Patric Pray made nine saves.
Second game of the season Hofstra score four second half goals against Univ. of Vermont a few days later to win 4-0 with Holland scoring two goals
and Sophs Mani Walcott and Meschak Eshton Addy each adding a goal.
Very impressive season start and next game is at West Point against Army.

Hofstra is now receiving votes in this week's poll. Syracuse went from #15, to now only receiving votes. That's quite the drop.

St Johns was 0-3 coming in so I dont see us getting much of a bump in the polls. Still any win over St Johns is great. In four games Patrick Pray has a goal against Avg of 0.25. Only goal was a penalty kick against then #15 Syracuse. We should be in the top 30.

Awesome recognition! Hopefully they stay hungry and don't let it get to their heads.

Most of the roster appears to come back next season so program should be in good shape in years to come

Surprised we are ranked that high but I will take it. We play #21 Amreican which has a solid squad. Richard has done an incredible job with this team. the glue that holds this team together is senior Patrick Pray. Remember he was the backup goalie a few years ago and started when our 1st goalie went down with an injury. he has not given up that position since. This team does not rely on any one player to score but holland is our main gunner out there. should be a very interesting season as there is still a long way to go.

Good to know!

I know Stephen Gorchav (spelling?) oversees and implemented the new streaming/video production.

We're down 0-2 to American in the second half. Frustrating game in basically every aspect. Besides us being down, I think American has the worst camera guy they possibly could've hired. The whole game is shaky, and there have been times where the camera is focused on trees, for minutes at a time with the clock still ticking. Also frustrating, the camera isn't even in the middle of the field, it's off to one end, so one heal appears super close, and you can barely see the far goal, unless zoom is used, but the zoom on the camera is not good. For a game as important as this, I'd expect American to have more top notch people and equipment. It's not just me who noticed the awful camera work, HU volleyball graduate Nuria Lopes da Silva also mentioned something about it on twitter.

So far this season, Hofstra appears to be a second half team, so there's still hope for some magic.

That game ended 2-0 and then Hofstra beat George Mason 2-1. Hofstra got the 30th most poll votes and fell out of the Top 25. Elon (20th) and UNC Wilmington (24th) are ranked.

Hofstra is now ranked 18th after the win over UNCW. 3 CAA teams are nationally ranked… not bad for a mid major!
