So our bats to some extent show up in this game and we manage to get 7 hits. We had plenty of opportunities to score in this one as we lose 7-0. I really couldn't believe my eyes in the 6th inning with first and second no out we hit a bloop hit into centerfield Iopollo on second I believe and she goes back to the bag on a hit that was obviously going to fall in. So she winds up getting forced at third instead of having bases loaded and no out. The coach was coaching third so don't know what happened here. Batter right after Morse hits a single up the middle which would have scored at least one but........ We hurt ourselves in this game both on the bases and in the field but our pitchers gave up home runs accounting for most of their runs. Thought both Apsel and Butler pitched OK but Cal had too many power hitters. Just like Oklahoma both teams had a lot of Giordano type hitters in their lineup with a lot of home runs and RBI's. We normally count on D and good pitching to win but clearly in both games we should have played better in the field. We still would have lost but games might have been closer. Looking forward to fall ball where we will get a glimpse of all the rookies coming in. Nice year ladies enjoyed it!! GO Pride!!

God I wish we played them. I was looking forward to that sooooo bad. Would have been a fun game assuming it was competitive.

The NCAA all regional team with our freshman Alanna Morse making the team. Three hits in the two NCAA games. What a year for this freshman!! https://twitter.com/ExtraInningSB/statu ... 3647058945

Congrats to these ladies, great to see HU Softball win the CAA again and get back to the NCAA's!! Well-earned, and a great building block - just the beginning, looking forward to more leveling up next season! Time to get this program back to CAA domination and mainstays on the big stage!

Didn't Ryan Villar play lacrosse for Hofstra a number of years go? Do you know if there is any relationship?

I don't know anything about Ryan Villar and any relationship interesting. I believe we have a lot of strong recruits coming in with Coach Clark really doing her due diligence. This program is heading in the right direction so we can compete for the CAA championship every year. Love what she's doing and a really nice woman.

Answered my own question - Ryan Vilar from CT - one L - played men's lax about ten years ago. So no relationship to the new recruit from CT who is a two L Villar.

If anyone was watching the rain delay during the Mets game tonight, you might have seen a familiar face- former pitcher Sarah Cornell is part of the grounds crew at Citi Field now.

I mean she is from LI, great way to get yourself into the industry, had some connections I'd imagine. She was an art history major, soooooo... yeah, gotta find a real job somewhere.

thought she was going into teaching (and I am guessing a coaching gig) - betting this is a cool summer job - good for her

So was able to catch a few innings of fallball HU hosting LIU. I came in during the second inning we were already winning 3-0 and we scored another run in the 3rd inning. Without having any kind of score sheet I didn't really know who the new players were other then what I had read about who we recruited. A freshman playing short and also second and first. I believe also one of the outfielders was a freshman. Other then that all returning players Manto in center and Kayla Wilson in right. Alanna Morse Playing 3rd AND Becca behind the plate. When I came in Bella Pisapia was pitching and didn't give up any runs. In the 4th we brought in Ogden a LI product to pitch. She got the first two outs and then gave up 3 hits in a row but got out of the inning just giving up one run. Giordano our new coach now is coaching 1st. IDK where we will get our power from on this team but have the Morse sisters and Catanzarita who hit some long home runs last year. This may be a team who strings hits together and will play some small ball and take advantage of our speed with these new freshman. It will be an interesting year as we defend our CAA championship.

So from twitter they sweep the doubleheader 9-2 and 5-4. The second game they were trailing 4-0. It would be nice to see some stats on these games somewhere. I saw a few innings of the first game and would have liked to see something in print to know who I was watching in terms of the new players.

Only way is to contact the coaching staff and they can give you some information but remember this is fall ball
A few of the players, you see in this game and not be on the roster in the spring

Stu I eventually will talk to the coach or maybe even Giordano who I've talked to recently when my granddaughter was in the summer softball camp. Why do you say some players will not be on this team in the spring. I thought this is our new final roster moving forward.

Moves are made by by the student athletes from the fall to the spring. I have seen players transfer, and in some instances I have seen some scholarships drop by the team.
