MBB Game 11 - LaSalle - 12/23/14, 4 PM

Post by Jojogunne »

Unusual holiday game time. This will be a good test for us. LaSalle is 6-5 and just beat Towson by 14.

Moussaka is back but he looked rusty and was not in game shape. He'll need some time before he's a factor. Have idea as to when Gustys will return but we sorely need his size/rebounding.

Game preview:

Too bad this A10 contest is being played at such an odd time. It might draw our smallest home crowd of the year.

this is an important game, the only quality OOC opponent left, and HU needs a quality win - at the very least simply to prove to they can beat a decent team from a major conf - I've been keyed on this one since it was released - I did not expect HU to lose to Columbia, so this game is even more important to their growth

not sure about the crowd, basically a holiday, even most working will get out early - if the had beat Columbia and kept the attention high, it may have helped - but who knows - big game for them, odd time... hoping for 2500-3k

Seems to be a great deal of local interest in this game...name opponent, etc...I've had more requests for tickets for this one than ANY other game this year including Stony Brook. And I agree Polito, we need to take care of business against LaSalle. I had Columbia as a toss up, possible loss and LaSalle as a win...Now let's go out and do it!

This game will be an interesting test of differing styles of play. Assuming Rokas is still out, we will have difficulty matching up against LaSalle. Zack - C 6-11' 240, Wright PF 6-8 245, Price (thier top scorer) G 6-5 220. So far this season, seems like JAM goes with the small shooting guard lineup and then hopes to force the opponent to switch to small before they beat us up and try to make us switch to big. Problem is that right now we don't have big. All our eggs are in the small run and gun basket.

as a follow on to the previous post - game notes say we will start Nichols and Tanksley up front. We will start out very very small.

I will be at today's game. Looking to see Kone play a little better than Saturday, hoping to see Rokas moving around well (even if not playing), hoping for some good minutes from Walker, and finally, as always, looking for hot shooting from our gunners!

I have a FULL day of work, killing me, wanted to be at this game...

No excuses for HU, injuries or not - they need to win this game - time to prove they can beat a good team from a good conf - come out firing, play tight D, stay aggressive, protect your house, and get a solid W

ROLL PRIDE!!

Who is going to cover 6-5 Jordan Price (21 ppg)? Tanksley has the size, but we may have to double-team LaSalle's leading scorer.

A couple of weeks ago, Juan'ya and Ameen told me they they were looking forward to this game because of their Philly connections; Coach, not so much from a personal standpoint, since a lot has changed since he played for and coached at LaSalle:

very good question, kid is a PLAYER - prob combo of tanksley, bernardi, robinson at various times my guess - won't be easy

this is a game where leadership is vital - can't have the key guys missing shots and fouling out, no matter how much time is left - they need to keep their heads, play aggressive but play smart - this is where HU needs the stars to earn the rep

sneak watching the video right now while doing some work ;)

not impressed yet with HU's play - the perimeter D is way too weak, and seeing some seriously sloppy play on O - team needs to settle, this is a key game

I do like seeing the full court press though, think HU does a pretty good job pressuring...

sheez, not to be critical but Green looks like crap - forcing terrible shots in the lane - literally forcing driving to the basket against multiple defenders... just did an up-and-down with the ball - something I did when I was 10

HU really needs him to get it going - you're the star, you're the leader, the ball was dropped at Columbia, you need to step it up for this game

and so far, the bad play I'm seeing has very little to do with the post issues - this is poor/sloppy play by the guards so far - get it together fellas

We can't allow the other team to be shooting over 60% 15 minutes into the game… We also haven't figured out how to guard Roberts and Price.
