And neither of those stats are even top on his team.

Ok, so here are the key sports contacts at Newsday:
Sports Editor, hank.winnicki@newsday.com
College Sports Writer, roger.rubin@newsday.com and,
Newsday Sports Now, emailed sports section, erin.spencer@newsday.com

Suggest going at Winicki first. I have already emailed Serpico with no response.

I sent an email to Winnicki and didn't mention anything about St John's didn't want him to think this was a tit for tat scenario. I referenced the tourney in Florida and the no coverage and the fact that this team has the leading D1 scorer in the country. We deserve to get some serious coverage. Let's see what the response is.

Great find Jojo doesn't this speak volumes. Thank God I didn't start mentioning St John's coverage. That does suck if he can't be neutral.

If there's anything journalists prize, it's their independence and objectivity. I would like to think that Newsday gives a lot of coverage to St. John's because it is, arguably the leading MBB program in the NY-LI area, and Pitino has been a leading collegiate and pro coach.

I also believe that Tyler's hot start is newsworthy and merits coverage. As of tonight, he is #1 in both ppg (25.0) and 3FG (34). No one from St. John's or any other local school is on the list:

Newsday has been shortchanging Hofstra sports since before Winnicki was born. However, as someone else pointed out, Newsday (and print media in general) is becoming more irrelevant by the day.

In addition, don't we have a higher NET rating than the Johnnies?

For those desiring more coverage in Newsday, here's the headline from the AP story on newsday.com: "Hofstra can't keep up with Duke in second half, falls at Cameron Indoor Stadium."

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. :)

I don't have an issue with that would you prefer no coverage of the game at all. If the headline read" Hofstra Gets Routed By Duke" I would have a problem with that and at least in that article they mentioned the game that Dubar had and how we were winning in the 1st half. Seems like a fair enough article.

I don't disagree, triplec. My point was, the one game Newsday decides to cover (because it was Duke), we lose. I hope our hometown paper (and news website) covers our home games (and Stony Brook's) in the new year, and not just SJU's.

Jojo from what we've seen it could be tough going but one thing for sure if we're winning and playing like last year we should get press but maybe our best coverage will be from other forms of media as been correctly pointed out here. The main reason St John's is getting all that coverage is because of Pitino but if they keep losing lets see how much coverage they will get. If we beat them later this month that will be huge for us.
