Post by Jojogunne »

Time to get back on the winning track. Have we ever played Jackson State before ... in any sport?

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/971 ... M_ID=29000 will have statistics. https://www.nmnathletics.com//pdf9/3007 ... M_ID=29000 is Jackson State's Game Notes. I couldn't find a betting line for the game.

I don't know who set up Jackson State's schedule, but of the Tigers' first 10 games, this is the only home game (not counting two exhibitions):

Do you have a link for that feed, Captain? The JS website says there are no live feeds:

I think if you hit sign up it brings you to a 24 hour live feed pass for $5.95, then probably from there it will show a live feed

The Southwestern Athletic Conference schools rarely host Division I out of conference games because the schools are poor and get paid to travel to richer schools that are often much better at basketball. If you want to spend time reading about Alcorn State (where quarterback Steve McNair went) and how poor some schools are you can read http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?id=3221302 . Jackson State and Alcorn State are likely in similar situations. Texas Southern starts with 15 out of 16 games away. Today was their only home game before January 17, and they won.

Edit: Hofstra is starting Nichols, Tanksley, Gustys, Green, and Bernardi. Jackson State is starting Derrell Taylor, Treshawn Bolden, Yettra Specks, Javeres Brent, and Dontaveon Robinson.

Gustys has 2 fouls. Hofstra went down 2-0, up 10-2, and now up 11-7.

Edit: Jackson State has 6 fouls and 6 turnovers in fewer than 9 minutes. Hofstra leads 19-10.

Sorry guys...I threw my money away I guess. I just assumed a home game would be showing their 1st home game.

Hofstra was up 28-14 but Jackson State went on a 9-0 run to go down 28-23. It's now 30-23.

Tanksley, Bernardi, and Robinson are tied for Hofstra's lead with 8 points. Green has scored only 3. Robinson surprisingly leads Hofstra with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocked shots. He has no missed field goals, no turnovers, and no fouls. His only miss was 1 free throw. Hofstra has shot three-pointers almost as well as free throws. Hofstra has used eight players and all of them have at least 2 rebounds. Jackson State has used 12 players. Kaven Bernard has 12 points. Jackson State has a field goal percentage of only .241 and it goes down to .143 if you take out Bernard. Both teams have shot three-pointers better than two-pointers.

He isn't hurt. He played 15 minutes and shot field goals 1-for-5.

Edit: Hofstra went up 40-25 but it's now 42-34.

Edit: Bernardi scored 12 points in 1:51 and Hofstra is on a 17-0 run to go up 61-38.

Edit: Hofstra went on a 20-0 run before Jackson State scored to go down 64-40 with 7:41 left. Bernardi has 20 points and Tanksley has 18. Hofstra has made half of their two-pointers and half of their three-pointers. Hofstra has a .568 field goal percentage excluding Green.

Edit: For the second time this season Hofstra allowed a four-point play while up a ton. Bernardi has made 6 three-pointers for the second time this season. He has made 3.33 (3 1/3) per game. Hofstra will play at least 32 games, and if you give Bernardi 32 games he is on pace to make 107 three-pointers which would be Hofstra's record (Agudio has it with 100) and third in CAA history.

HU wins by 30. Sounded like we were very hot from 3-pt range in the second half. I like it, this was a game that we should have won handily. I would like to see us not be so dependent on the "3" however. It's a great weapon, but you all know the saying "live by the sword (3), die by the sword (3).

We also signed up for the video feed that didn't exist. What can you do. I haven't looked a box score yet but it seemed we were ice cold in the first half. We warmed up considerably in the second half. Tanksley continues to be steady Eddy for us. Real impressed with his play this year. Nice to get a 30 point win. On to Norfolk State.
