The first of two games in a southern swing during Thanksgiving Week. Let's hope we win both.

This would be a nice win. USF only lost by 3 @ NC St today

Hofstra given about a 1 in 5 chance of winning by the computers, and are 15 point losers. Let's hope the computers are wrong.

This will be another tough road test - Perry is a real talent down low and will be a challenge for the frosh - I would expect them to exploit the youth there - they have a few guards that can play, esp point and wing - toughest thing about them is almost entirely new team after coaching change so difficult to gauge/scout

Hopefully HU can catch them a bit spent after hard fought NC State loss - believe Perry will get his pts like Warney, so they'll need to shoot the ball well and defend the 3 - if they keep it close anything can happen

Either way I am expecting a MUCH better showing than NC St - good game to prove the team learned some things from that game - sometimes shots don't fall, but that doesn't mean other areas have to suffer - need to fight hard and play sharp from the START - do that and they can steal a big one...

Game preview:

It looks like ESPN3 archives the broadcast for several days under the "Replay" tab:

It will be tough to contain Perry without Kone's experience, believe he will get his stats, but HU certainly has a shot to steal a big one on the road - I think this is a game they need Bernardi shooting well to help stretch things out, as well as defending their other 2 stars Allen and Morillo

I know it's obvious, but if they can score high and keep 2 of their 3 main guys in check, I believe they can win by about 5 - IF Rokas has a strong game on top of that, and maybe matches Perry's effort, that's a best case scenario that will make this much more realistic - it's a tall task no doubt, but doable

flip side, shoot poorly and let their stars go off, well, that = NC State - I'm hoping that game's lessons can be utilized here...it hasn't been that long since, but we'll see if some progress has been made

this is one of only 2 real remaining opportunities to get a statement / signature win - come out STRONG right out of the gate and go get 'em fellas! Roll Pride!

some further thoughts for tonight:

USF is a brand new team basically - 1st yr staff, and lots of new faces playing there for 1st time - I think HU can take advantage of that to a degree

If USF plays zone, likely from what I'm reading, HU should attack that all day, find the open shots, and take 'em - 3's and jumpers all day - that could really help them develop an offense and a lead - attack and run baby

due to various reasons (personnel changes, injury, redshirt, etc) they don't have a lot of depth - to me HU should full court press entire game, wear them down, throw fresh legs at them all game, and run them silly - this could get them sloppy and panicky and produce some foul trouble further assisting HU

They have talent for sure, but I think HU can exploit their 'newness' of players/staff, the zone D, and the lack of depth - sink your shots and let's win this thing fellas - LET'S ROLL PRIDE!!!!

Are we using a scheduling group to get these games? USF is also playing Jacksonville, Jackson State, just played NC State.

Polito, Pomeroy has USF playing mostly Man based on their defensive fingerprint, and based on the way we like to shoot the 3, I would expect to see a lot of man to man tonight. Here's hoping for zone, let Bernardi chuck 'em all night!

Not like I'm an expert on USF by any means, but I think we have a tough task on our hands tonight. USF is not overly big, but Perry is their go-to guy, which will be a nightmare for us if he plays anything like Warney.

Our goal has to be to get them in foul trouble so they're forced to play more zone (they mainly play 7 guys), then we can rain 3's all night. This would be a significant win against a power conference team.

Hofstra went down 19-11 and then went on a 10-0 run to take their first lead at 21-19.

6 point halftime lead. Some UGLY shooting combined with lights out shooting. But this is a VERY winnable game, and frankly one that at this point in the contest I'd be upset of they didn't win.

Hofstra went on a 25-7 run to go up 36-26 and leads 36-30 at halftime. Hofstra has only 4 turnovers and 4 fouls and has had 6 shots blocked by South Florida.

Edit: Hofstra's lead went down to 2 but then Hofstra made three three-pointers to go up 9.

love green..but he had 2 guys open on the right wing as he is driving down the left side. Needs to give up the ball. Great effort. EXCITING basketball.
