Down by 26. Why is JR even playing. He is clearly still injured and should be trying to recover. His play is hurting the team. But then again, everyone's play is hurting the team.

Well Jalen should be playing under an alias right now because he can’t buy a basket. He missed wide open shots one after another and he’s not alone. Putrid!!!!

This is a game that needs to be put quickly in the rear view mirror and nobody should look back. Not deserving of analysis IMO. When we beat Delaware last year by 45 points I don't think anyone thought we were 45 points better then Delaware and they rebounded and won their next game I believe. The same will happen here we will rebound and beat S.B. at home Tuesday AND THE SEASON WILL GO ON. They're not that good and clearly we're not that bad. This is one of those games where everything goes right for one team and the opposite being true for the other team!! Other then that nothing else needs to be said IMO!!

To triplec2195, I agree. Let's just concentrate on Stony Brook, Princeton, and Manhattan for the final out of conference games. Also let's hope all the players do well on their finals.

The biggest concern about this one is that it's the second straight game that the offense has struggled to shoot and score well as a whole with Ray hurt and unable to give what he's capable of providing offensively.
Hopefully this ankle issue is resolved fairly quickly, but if It's a lingering thing, it could be a lot of trouble for this team as it seems that Ray being taken out of the game is having a trickle-down effect offensively. To be effective enough as a whole, they can't have any of the four starters aside from Kante out or limited. In this case, with Ray severely limited, it puts too much pressure on an already hot-and-cold Coburn and on Pemberton. Buie was the one guy who shot well today, but he obviously needed help, and without Ray to open things up a little, Coburn could be stopped more easily and Pemberton could be keyed on more easily.

Boy that was really ugly! A new low but the theme is familiar... we are manhandled on the boards.
I keep wondering if Cramer would be help on the backboards. I think he was promised a redshirt, but if he is healthy and the staff believes he would be a significant asset, maybe there is some wisdom to burning his redshirt. It is the last roundup for Buie and Pemberton. Without some spike in rebounding, I think this team of smurfs is in trouble.

#32--Isaac Kante...there must be another Isaac Kante...this can not be the same Isaac Kante that our staff has been raving about for over a year ???????????????????????????????????
Re: 2019-2020 Game 10 at St. Bonaventure: 12/7/2019 at 2:30
That's going to be a problem all year. Make shots, and there's nothing to rebound, at least offensively. But only one guy shot well yesterday (discounting Silverio, who only took 3 shots, making 2). That's the only way they're going to overcome the rebounding and defensive deficiencies. Have to get Ray healthy ASAP. And Coburn has to work on his shot and his shot selection more to make it more consistent. His good shooting games help tremendously, but there are too few of those and too many bad shooting games from him which are killing the offense. Have to see Pemberton get back to where he was too. His efficiency has decreased a bit this year. JWF not only provides amazing production, butCaptain wrote:Boy that was really ugly! made everyone else's scoring ability easier. Time for those guys to step up without him now.

Just curious and I'd imagine Evan would know but have we ever in recent memory at least scored under 50 points???
Re: 2019-2020 Game 10 at St. Bonaventure: 12/7/2019 at 2:30
Kante, Schutte, and Hughes, all of whom are forwards or centers who don't shoot threes, have played a slightly higher percentage of our minutes than Taylor and Dwyer last season and Gustys and Sabety two seasons ago, albeit two seasons ago we had two starters who didn't shoot threes in Gustys and Angus III before the latter went from starter to sub (with Trueheart becoming a starter) to injured. We're at +1.3 rebounds per game, and our 37.7 rebounds would be our second highest of the last ten seasons behind 39.0 in 2015-2016. In 2010-2011 when Jenkins was a senior, we averaged 32.2 rebounds and allowed 36.1, and we went 22-12.Captain wrote: I keep wondering if Cramer would be help on the backboards.

This game is such an anomaly I don't want to get into why we lost but scoring 45 points shooting 27% FG, 16% FROM 3 AND 50% from the foul line. Also IDK if its correct but the box score shows us as only having 3 assists in this game? Enough said!!EvanJ wrote:Kante, Schutte, and Hughes, all of whom are forwards or centers who don't shoot threes, have played a slightly higher percentage of our minutes than Taylor and Dwyer last season and Gustys and Sabety two seasons ago, albeit two seasons ago we had two starters who didn't shoot threes in Gustys and Angus III before the latter went from starter to sub (with Trueheart becoming a starter) to injured. Buie made his first two free throws and missed his third one to end his streak at 35, which is tied for the seventh longest streak in CAA history.
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pl ... =date_game says it was our tenth time under 50 going back to 2010-2011, which is 303 games, so that's 3.3 percent of the games. Our previous game under 50 was a 67-49 loss at Charleston on February 1, 2014. That was 186 games ago. It was the first time during that time that we scored under 50 and lost by at least 28, so I checked the Media Guide. It was the first time we scored under 50 and lost by at least 28 since a 77-46 loss at Old Dominion on March 1, 2003, which was the last game before the CAA Tournament. We went 8-21 that season.triplec2195 wrote: Just curious and I'd imagine Evan would know but have we ever in recent memory at least scored under 50 points???
Thank you for pointing out that we had only 3 assists. Buie had 2 and Pemberton had 1. It was the 18th time a team had 3 or fewer assists this season, and that excludes 8 time a non-Division I team had 3 or fewer assists against a Division I team. Four Division I teams had 3 or fewer assists yesterday, which is tied with November 15 for the most Division I teams to do that in one day this season. The last day that at least five Division I teams did that was when five teams did that on February 14, 2015.triplec2195 wrote: This game is such an anomaly I don't want to get into why we lost but scoring 45 points shooting 27% FG, 16% FROM 3 AND 50% from the foul line. I can’t get over how bad this guy is. Like a clutzy version of Moussa Kone. So bad to the point Hughes has had to play. We better hit our outside shots, I’ll say that much.

Moussa Kone was a hell of a lot better than this dude. Moussa gave it his all on the court. I enjoyed his tenure at HofstraHof_Judge99 wrote:garyg wrote:#32--Isaac Kante...there must be another Isaac Kante...this can not be the same Isaac Kante that our staff has been raving about for over a year ???????????????????????????????????

Well the Princeton game is also on ESPN+. I don’t go back far enough to know the last time Hofstra’s big guy was as bad as Kante. Just hope they can get a JuCo transfer or something after this season.

OK I think I get the opinion of some of you guys about Kante and at this stage of his career I have to be the dissenting opinion. He for all intents and purposes is a FRESHMAN. He got very little playing time at Georgia in his freshman year and sat out last year. IDK how much action he saw last year in practices when we had both Dwyer and Taylor here. You would have thought he could have learned plenty. As of right now his stat line is after 10 games 25.6 minutes per game, his field goal percentage is .613, he hasn't attempted a three, 54% F.T., 6.6. REBOUNDS A GAME. A total of 9 assists 8 steals and 2 blocks and he's averaging 9.6 points per game. So if you were to compare them to Kone's in his senior year they would be very favorable. Kone had more blocks and was averaging .81 blocks per game and averaged 8.85 points a game in his SENIOR YEAR. Kone never averaged 6 rebounds a game during his entire career and played over 20 minutes a game every year. So as much as I liked Kone and he had a nice game IDK how some of you are making this comparison. Maybe it's based on your recollection but the stats don't support that argument. I'm in agreement that we all had an assessment of Kante that was unrealistic based on what we had heard from the staff etc. and I've watched him as well and come away disappointed at times but guys lets remember this is his first year and he needs time to grow and learn this position. When people say he's terrible that to me conjures up the way Andre Walker played at times even though he was a shot blocker. So maybe we don't have a shot blocker here or a guy who is going to lead the CAA in rebounding and yes maybe he's not the next coming of Devonte Cacock but TERRIBLE I don't agree!!Hofstra wrote:Moussa Kone was a hell of a lot better than this dude. Who had the unrealistic expectations, us or the staff who fed it? Yeah. This is even worse than the Wormley missing link garbage. I don’t want to say a kid is terrible, but it’s hard to describe his play differently. Let’s call it completely ineffective? I’ll def own my miss, was WAY off on this one. Yeah he’s early in his career, can certainly make big jumps, not writing him off yet, but this team needs a post player now, not 2 yrs from now. Highly concerned this fella is going to get his butt handed to him on a platter in the CAA.
I don’t want to pile on, clearly this game was a total embarrassment - guess it’s just gonna be that kind of wild ride, from beating a big name to getting whipped by an avg St Bon team that won’t come close to winning the A10.
A nearly 30pt loss... goodness gracious. Agree we have no choice but to hold onto the hope that this was one of those perfect storm everything just blew up games that are very rare.
What frustrates me is literally ONE guy gets hobbled and the entire house of cards crumbles. Drives you mad... so much potential. This team has been put in a terrible position this yr. That has to be on the staff. Have some talent, they always do thankfully, but assembled poorly, so fragile, and fully dependent on 4 guys playing at all conf level the entire yr.
Conf play all that matters though, let’s hope they have some scheme magic up their sleeves to mitigate the enormous gaps.
