MBB RECRUITS 2023

Post by garyg »

I do not believe we have had any recent posts on this topic...with many kids making college visits and players giving verbal commitments this is usually a very active period...the fact that transfers no longer have to sit out a year has definitely had an impact on the fall/winter recruiting...has anyone heard anything about Hofstra prospects ??

Nothing specific garyg, but I would think we are looking at 4/5s to be in the mix with Manyang. I believe our 2 other bigs are one and done's.

This kid is on V/C along with 13 other recruits. Don't believe we have signed anyone yet. https://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/hofstra

Combine Academy has put out some serious P5 talent - like that this kid will ball there... but will be curious to how much PT he can garner surrounded by high talent.

Like his game though, lengthy guard, very athletic, gets up on his 3 ball with a nice arc, cleans up nice around the rim, and seems to play spirited D - looks to handle the rock well enough, didn't see much of a mid range game, but I may just not know enough of his game - said to be vocal and high energy on the court, which I def like - looks to be a potential sleeper?

6-3 PG out of Florida...looks like a Prep School kid...should be a bit more mature with the extra year.

So took me a minute to dig into this one, and was initially a little harder to uncover because KJ is a nickname, his full name is Kijan Robinson.

I'm sure it will come as little surprise that this is a very solid guard signing by the one and only Speedy. Very skilled lefty with a game that similar to Estrada (his comparison is Trae Young). He's very quick, has a great handle, is money from the step back 3, and speaks to having a quality yet underrated mid-range and floater game. He looks unstoppable driving with his left just like AE.

I believe he needs to put some more weight on, but he's got legit skill and apparently had a super summer on the circuit for SOH Elite. His legit offers were Murray St, St Bon, La Salle, Northern Kentucky, Cal Poly, and Mount St Marys. Those first 3 are all I need as validation for the right talent level.

(Also of note, HU has offered his SOH teammate '24 6'4 Guard Herbert Wilson.)

Not sure how much of a 'disher' he is, but has a huge offensive skill set and upside, and is reported to play energetic D (will take that all day). At 6'3, this could be the beginning of another great guard. Some links:

Thanks for the info Polito kind of strange that there isn't anything current on this kid. That you tube is from two years ago when this kid was 5'5". Where's the current stuff?

Great insight Polito-- thanks for pulling all of that together.

I do get excited when guys like Adam Finklestein get excited-- I'm not saying they're elite talent evaluators, but they see a LOT of kids and have a good feel for what good looks like as an outside source.

Great handle, great SIZE for the position, and nice finishing skills.

My nitpick is that jumpshot... it's a very low release, closer to his chin than his forehead. Again, big nit pick on what looks like an awesome get for this squad. Great job all around!

Very glad to see this, welcome to the fam KJ!!

Fair callout tc on the old clips, I thought I had one earlier, but no cigar - hoping we see a Sr year tape.

Also fair on the shot HU87, but going to presume that's either his way and it works or he'll smooth that out at HU.

I was able to find this update tonight at least:
https://twitter.com/WekivaSports/status ... n2sposAAAA

Kid kicking off the year on FIRE - 22pts with 6 3's.

Bottom line, this is a good sized PG that Speedy likes, he's likely going to be a baller. ROLL PRIDE!
