Re: Elon @ MBB, Thursday, 2/24/22, 7 PM
We beat them by 33 points at Elon "The Omar Silverio Show" and ESPN says we have a 93.8% chance of winning. It's just another potential trap game where we can't take them lightly and let them hang around in a one or two possession game. We need to hammer them from the beginning just like a tourney game. So what's the prediction we win by 10 points or less and Omar scores under 10 as well???? The line should be high in this game.
Re: Elon @ MBB, Thursday, 2/24/22, 7 PM
Elon can get hot from 3, especially against a team like HU, which can often have a tendency to allow teams to get hot from 3. Could be a close battle if that happens. Otherwise, I don't see how Elon can stay in it and how HU doesn't win this one fairly easily, somewhere like the recent road wins at Drexel (by 10) and Delaware (by 14) or by more.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/ ... game30.pdf is our Game Notes. In the unlikely event that we lose in the Quarterfinals, this will be our last televised game of the season. I don't know why CBS Sports Network chose Elon at Northeastern on Saturday other than if they want the CAA at 12:00 P.M. before other games. Ray needs 1 three to make 300, and 18 points to make 1,700.
https://static.caasports.com/custompage ... M#team.ind has Elon's statistics. Darius Burford and Hunter McIntosh are close in points (DB 13.4, HM 12.8), assists (DB 3.0, HM 2.9), and field goal attempts (HM 11.7, DB 11.5). The big difference is that HM attempted over three times as many threes, 206 to 68. Their third leading scorer is Michael Graham, who hasn't attempted a three. He averages 9.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. Their fourth through eighth leading scorers combine to have 67 percent of their attempts be threes. Their fourth leading scorer is Torrence Watson, who hasn't played since January 27. Jerald Gillens-Butler is injured-plagued as he played 3 games last season and 10 games this season. He was a Preseason Honorable Mention. Elon has 26 more points than their opponents from field goals, and 212 fewer free throws, for a differential of -186, which is -6.4 per game. Even with 212 fewer free throws than their opponents, they made more than us.

We're per yahoo sports 13.5 point favorites. O/U 145.5. TRAP GAME??

Why is every game we're favored a trap game???triplec2195 wrote:We're per yahoo sports 13.5 point favorites. O/U 145.5. TRAP GAME??
I think we're beyond that with this team or at least I'd like to think so.

I think we massacre this team again tonight. We are rolling.triplec2195 wrote:We're per yahoo sports 13.5 point favorites. O/U 145.5. TRAP GAME??

OK from your lips but these games where we're favored by double digits scare me. I hate to see one or two possession scenarios going down the stretch in these games and we're all biting our fingernails or whatever one does in these games that we're supposed to win by large margins. I remember W&M and of course NE still fresh in my memory.Hofstra wrote:I think we massacre this team again tonight. We are rolling.triplec2195 wrote:We're per yahoo sports 13.5 point favorites. You like to think so but I'd imagine even Speedy wants to see us get out to a good start and get some distance in this game.HUSID80 wrote:Why is every game we're favored a trap game???triplec2195 wrote:We're per yahoo sports 13.5 point favorites. O/U 145.5. TRAP GAME??

KenPom predicts 81-66 with a 90 percent chance, followed by 84-64 with a 97 percent chance at beating W&M. I wonder what the record is for highest probability of Team X beating Team Y after Team Y beat Team X earlier that season.

"Trap games" are vs a weak team (generally on road) sandwiched between 2 High Profile opponents

http://defiantlydutch.blogspot.com/2022 ... fstra.html is Jerry Beach's "I'll Be Quirky: Elon at Hofstra."
Here are tonight's statistics:
William & Mary and Northeastern at 6:00 P.M. on NESN: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=371247 (4-4 at the first media timeout)
Charleston at Delaware at 7:00 P.M. on NBC Sports Philadelphia+: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=368300
Us at 7:00 P.M. on SNY: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=368975 and we are starting our usual starters. Torrence Watson is not starting for Elon, so I am assuming he is still out. Elon is starting Hunter McIntosh (guard, 12.8 points), Darius Burford (guard, 13.4 points), Chuck Hannah (forward, 4.7 points), Zac Ervin (forward, 7.4 points), and Michael Graham (center, 9.2 points and 6.8 rebounds). Hannah and Ervin are not forwards who shoot by the basket. 32 of Hannah's 70 field goal attempts and 128 of Ervin's 176 field goal attempts were threes. Without Watson, expect most of their threes to come from McIntosh, Ervin, Hunter Woods, and Kris Wooten.
UNCW at Drexel at 7:00 P.M. on NBC Sports Philadelphia: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=367239
All four gams are on the home team's channel. Towson won hosting JMU last night, and they play at JMU on Saturday when every team plays.
Edit: Northeastern leads W&M 25-10.

McIntosh always, always hurts them. He had 18 in the first half tonight on 6/8 fg, 4/6 from 3.
Offensively, as we know, usually Cooks or Ray is on if not both. But both scoreless in the first half. That gives this team no chance. Have to get production from at least one. Only two shots for each of them in the half.
Silverio leads HU with 10 pts. He loves seeing Elon this year. They give him a lot of room. Would have kept going to him on the perimeter after last week, but they didn't.

They leave Burgess wide open and he shoots one brick after another

Evan, maybe you can know if this is a CAA record for fewest points but, WOW, William & Mary loses in Boston, 62-28EvanJ wrote: Northeastern leads W&M 25-10.
They Tribe had 15 at halftime and somehow managed LESS points than that in the second half.

We won by 33 and we’re going to lose by 33 ??
Re: Elon @ MBB, Thursday, 2/24/22, 7 PM
Simmons with the and-1 inside. Hofstra finally gets on the board in the second half, exactly eight minutes into the half. Media timeout with Elon up 56-33. Ends a string of 12 straight Hofstra misses and 18 of 19. Unbelievable. They look like they have tired legs on their shots or attacking the hoop all night. Not sure why since it's their first game in five days. How hard they practice this week?
