Re: Game 3 Fairleigh Dickinson, 11/30/20, 7 PM on Flosports
Damn straight. They need to come out and make some frigging shots! If they play the way they did overall today, and actually MAKE buckets, they can do damage in this game.
FDU is the NEC preseason #1. They have a talented Sr guard (Jenkins) and Sr forward (Williams). Outside of that a very young team, nowhere near the size or talent of Rutgers. This is a good mid major opponent, and a great bounce-back opportunity where HU should be able to have much better success, especially in the lane and post. THIS game I expect guys like Kante and Cramer to go off.
Will be paying close attention to how they handle back to back games... that's gonna be the deal all year, so would like to see them navigate it well.
Get this L taste out fellas and pickup that first W!

A much better barometer for this team to see where we're at. Let's put up some numbers!!

FDU has some potent offense but their defense is shaky. Fair test for us on a back-to-back, though no one played more than 30 mins last night. FDU lost to Rutgers on Friday 96-75.
Looking for:
-One of the PGs to assert himself and manage the offense. Doesn't need to score a lot, just don't turn the ball over and get your teammates open looks
-Kante to dominate
-Wings (Coburn, Green, Silverio, Cramer) to hit outside shots
Do those and I think the defense will sort itself out. Just need some confidence and chemistry to start brewing.

His statistics last season were close to Justyn Mutts, who shot 14-17 and scored 30 at us. Do coaches prepare players for OOC opposing players by comparing them to conference opposing players? Here's a comparison of Williams and Mutts last season according to https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pl ... ams-1.html and https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pl ... tts-1.htmlPolito wrote: Sr forward (Williams).
Points: Williams 11.8, Mutts 12.2
Rebounds: Williams 7.3, Mutts 8.4
Assists: Williams 2.5, Mutts 2.2
Steals: Williams 1.1, Mutts 1.3
Blocks: Williams 1.3, Mutts 1.0
Turnovers: Williams 2.7, Mutts 2.5
Fouls: Williams 2.7, Mutts 3.3
Minutes: Williams 32.4, Mutts 31.8
Field goal percentage: Williams .553, Mutts .538
Two-point field goal percentage: Williams .594, Mutts .565
Three-point field goal percentage: Williams .273, Mutts .111 (Mutts shot 2-18 so it's a small sample size)
Percentage of field goal attempts that are threes: Williams 12.6 percent, Mutts 6.0 percent
Free throw percentage: Williams .618, Mutts .735
Height: Both 6-7
Weight: Both 220 pounds
They even both have a "y" in their first name that is normally spelled with an/ "i"

We're 12 point favorites in this game. Does this sound accurate??

HU on KenPom is ranked about 100 places higher than FDU. ESPN has HU as a 71% of winning. Odds also add a few points for a home game. With no fans, the home court advantage should not be as large. I think it is very important that HU gets used to back to back games because 8 out of 9 weekends are set up with a Saturday-Sunday CAA schedule.

Sounds like IK is now playing aggressive and strong with more energy, that's great to hear after yesterdays game. Hopefully that means it's been addressed.
For the life of me I cannot understand forcing Green into the starting role as a true freshman when Cramer has flashed some ability. This seems really unnecessary to me. Cramer should be fine to start, and let Green develop. I know he's highly touted, but this feels really forced to me.
Anyhoo, let's see how it plays out. Love the fire from the team so far, let's go!

Here comes the scoring drought and Swiss cheese defense. FDU shooting 52% compared to our 32.3%. HU down 27-31

They can hit jumpers, we can't...someone has to figure it out when Ray is cold
Re: Game 3 Fairleigh Dickinson, 11/30/20, 7 PM on Flosports
This team couldn't put it in the ocean. Geez. We ain't beating anybody shooting 29%.

Announcers said we went 9 minutes without scoring. Not going to win many games playing like that.
Re: Game 3 Fairleigh Dickinson, 11/30/20, 7 PM on Flosports
Pitiful half after a better start. This team literally can’t shoot. From anywhere. Including the FT line.
Oddly enough the D is again really strong - opposite world!
As I said, Green isn’t ready and showing it again today. They need to stop forcing that. Cramer is sloppy still but MUCH more ready to ball atthis level.
Good Lord, the shooting... staff is probably pulling their hair out. It’s abysmal.
