I am going to surprise some and be the one to stick up for the staff here, I do believe they are going to bring in 2 bigs, one starting/immediate impact quality. I think they are likely very close actually, at least to having 1 come on board.

Remember, I posted before it wasn't until MAY that Rok came on board. They are working it, and have their sights on some quality - just a matter of time IMO.

It's well known I can't stand their timing, but this is one area I do have faith in these guys because quite frankly they've earned it.

They have until I believe july 28th to get a late signee. After that they must be registered for class at Hofstra for the fall semester. Can anyone on the board confirm this?

I don't think there's any question about this and considering this is an important signing they're just not going to sign a work project here. The guy is going to have to be ready to play immediately. There are a lot of players out there let's hope they can get at least one.

While I agree with everything that has been said, I'm not fond at all of this heart attack last minute signing. its only a matter of time before we get caught on the wrong side of this strategy. Would have thought we would have had 1 of the 2 bigs signed already.

How do you guys read into the fact that we are making recent offers? Do you think it indicates that HU is likely to not be successful with the guys we offered earlier, and we need to find other candidates? Or is it simply just having fall back candidates in case our true targets sign elsewhere. Or is it unknowable?

I mean some of the kids we make offers to I believe we know we have no chance of getting like some of these kids that are destined to go to P5 conference teams. We throw our hat in the ring sort of speak but we have an idea of who we're in the running for even if it doesn't pan out in the end. Just like that kid Kupsas. Hopefully were are not leaving any stones un-turned because we have landed some of our better players on the rebound. We need to land two big players and there are a multitude of players out there freshmen, JUCO'S and kids transferring that may be eligible right away!! We have to like our chances even though the clock is ticking.

Believe me, the staff's strategy is not to wait until the spring to sign kids. This recruiting business is tough and kids will wait to the very end to see if they can get a better offer. Most make a huge mistake in signing with the highest level offer...those are the kids we see on the rebound on the transfer list.

I know we had a recruit in for a visit this past weekend...don't know who it was or what happened, hopefully somebody saw some BIG kid on campus!

HU offers 2018 6'2" PG Cress Worthy. Video shows an athletic kid who appears to shoot lights out, but who knows.
Must be really flying under the radar as Verbal commits shows only HU and Coppin St making offers.

Both, but more concerned that there's not one highlight of this guy making a steal or forcing a turnover

Cactus look at it again I think they found a steal or two with breakaway dunks. These videos are so self serving that you really can't get the whole picture!

I hope somebody finds something on this kid but appears to be a mystery right now and at 6'10" and 200 lbs. he needs to start eating some N.Y. food and beefing up. He's about 60 lbs. lighter then both ROK and Sabety. Now where's the transfer who can step in immediately??

Hal Hughes, SCS
At 6-foot-9, the Class of 2018 prospect is a knockdown shooter who can get hot in a hurry. While he entered the United States as strictly a 3-point ace, he’s become more efficient as a knockdown guy from 18-20 feet. He’s still adjusting to the physicality of the American game, as the Australian must pack on muscle to a spindly 185-pound frame. Division-I programs such as Austin Peay and Weber State have expressed interest in Hughes, citing upside and a feathery touch that’s translatable to the ensuing level of play.

This was posted following his junior season. Based on weight and the above comments, does not sound like an inside guy at all, at least not for now. Nothing wrong with picking up a young 6'9" 3 pt shooter. Could be a guy who develops and grows into a real impact guy - cant teach size and few guys that size can shoot like an "ace". Certainly does not sound like an immediate impact guy. As always, time will tell if he pans out.

Maybe they expect him to develop into a Jeremy Miller type (northeastern)?
