Sabety has no real offensive game...he is a rebound, jam guy. Rokus has suffered without Green, we need to figure out how to get him the ball in the flow of the offense as he is not good at creating his own opportunities...both are pretty limited offensively.Mike34 wrote:There is no team in the CAA that can hold down Rokas and Sabety at the same time. The coach must figure out a way to at least try to play them together. Sabety is the only one of the two who plays aggressive D. The coach also has zero plays to the big men. Sabety was completely open at least 3 separate times and Rokas was completely open at least 2 times and the guards do not look for them. The coach is not using the big men at all to score and it's a huge mistake. Sabety has a true big man skill set and it is not being maximized at all.

This was a good win.
Having a 12-point second-half lead erased on the road in the CAA opener, Bernardi out, Gustys only 1 point on three shots while plagued by foul trouble, shooting under 40% as a team, and after playing in the 80s (or even 90s) earlier in the year, playing in the 50s, and despite ALL of that, still finding a way to gut out a win to start conference play? Not pretty, but the type of character-building win that will help this team as it navigates through CAA play this season.
Happy & healthy 2017 to all, by the way!

I beg to differ considering Sabety probably has more blocks this season than most centers get who are in for 30 mins. To say he has no real offensive game isn't a fair statement. In terms of points I wish Sabety and Rokas were fed the ball more often considering they are often left under the basket wide open.HUSID80 wrote:Sabety has no real offensive game...he is a rebound, jam guy. Blocks have nothing to do with offense. He is a great athlete, moves well, quick off his feet etc...but has no real offensive game...just about all his points are put backs off offensive rebounds...nothing wrong with that.

Exactly. I was a big advocate of having Rok and Sabety on the court at the same time for defensive purposes earlier in the year, but we've improved defensively, and Sabety has proven to be a poor offensive player. Turns out the coaching staff knows more than us after all haha.HUSID80 wrote:Sabety has no real offensive game...he is a rebound, jam guy. We're struggling to get Rok involved when teams play zone on us. But he also seems to be in an offensive funk right now, especially with his back to basket game, a lot of sloppy footwork IMO. If he can find confidence in his back to basket game, even a little, we can get it to him in the zone, and he can use his high level passing ability to get us good looks on the perimeter.
We need all of our players on the court to be an offensive threat because we are still one of the weaker defensive teams in the CAA. I do think Rok will get going very soon, today against a soft W&M frontcourt is a great opportunity to let the big man feed.
