In other Keats news, keep an eye on that Pitt job.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
Pitt potentially already backed away from Keatts because of the Louisville situation. There was an ESPN article a few weeks ago were a few players/recruits spoke out and essentially said that the entire staff was completely aware of what was going on.

And UNCW doesn't have the scholarships to offer the Martin twins, unless Keatts somehow convinces them to walk-on, like he did for Chris Flemmings.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
If the Martin brothers do decide to go to Hofstra I can see it working with a potential starting lineup like this:
PG Buie 6-0
SG Pemberton 6-4
SF Martin 6-7
C Gustys 6-9
PF Martin 6-7
However since they would have to sit out next season them coming to Hofstra could hurt us next season...a lot of the guys we are recruiting now are looking for playing time at least for next 2 years and they might think twice about selecting HU with Martin brothers on horizon...what would work is if staff can land a quality grad student at the wing for next years roster....we already have Robinson at wing for next season and Pemberton can play there as well

Why would they ever consider Hofstra?
Re: MBB recruits 2016
It is unlikely but they played with Rokas in prep school and supposedly he has contacted them regarding Hofstra being a great place for them...

Re: MBB recruits 2016
I think the Martin twins have family and friends in North Carolina. Additionally they seem a little hotheaded/temperamental. While I'd love to have them, it seems clear as we enter Year 4 of the Mihalich era that he prefers guys who are a bit more stoic. I'd be surprised if 1. Mihalich pursues them unless he really senses they have an active interest in Hofstra 2. They are looking at mid-majors outside of the North Carolina region. It's nice to daydream about and I'd be delighted to see them on board, but I'd put our chances at a solid 3%.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
Yeah Rok tweeted at one of them. It's not much of anything so don't make too much of it. Something like "New York would be a great place for you guys." Probably just doing his due dilligence of making a connection but I doubt there's much more to it. As people have said before, there's no reason to believe the Martin twins would come here. I'm sure fans of every talented mid major and P5 school are talking about them too.
I'm personally more exited at the prospect of landing Aleem Ford (visits in two weeks) and Tyquone Greer (just visited). Those guys would be great for the program and filling the right needs.

Until these guys suit up and are on the court as of March 27th we have zero wings. The clock is ticking. The sooner we get two wings tied up we still have a glaring weakness in our roster.

We got Greer, per Zach Braziller!

Zach Braziller @NYPost_Brazille
Hofstra lands commitment from Tyquone Greer, a skilled JUCO wing, per source. #hofmbb
An older article including him:

Nice one down one to go. I say we still go after Joe Lopez from broward once we land that next wing.

Re: MBB recruits 2016
I agree with you Stu...that would give us great front court depth
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Where's Polito for this news...awesome....we are 1 or two additions away from having a great roster for next year!
Congrats to Joe and staff!

Re: MBB recruits 2016
A friend of mine informed me last night that he saw the head coach and the whole team on the LIRR going to the city. I told him it was probably for a recruit that they were having in this weekend. I guess everything went well! Great news!
Re: MBB recruits 2016
Such a perfect signing by JAM and the crew! Lengthy and athletic stretch 3/4 who put up good numbers at a good program!

Gotta respect grabbing a 6'7'' guy who can shoot 40% from 3 and grab 7 rebounds a game-- Great stuff!!
