Re: WRHU Sports
Thanks for the update! I'd love to tune in but won't be able to listen due to dinner plans that night. Will the interviews be archived anywhere online?

Re: Hofstra women's lax
Great news for her to get the day after graduation. She will no doubt go down as one of the top Hofstra women's lacrosse players of all time.

True but is still cool to be included. We have hit a rough patch, but am cautiously optimistic next year will be much better.Flying Dutchmen wrote:Unfortunately that does not translate into wins.

That makes the decision to place them in bracket with top-seeded team that much more ludicrous. What a joke the NCAA is!ProudofPride wrote:Hofstra Softball tweeted that our current RPI of 13 is the highest ever in program history.

Their RPI will probably climb a lot, possibly into the top 16, so any chance they host?

Hofstra made USA Today Top Men's Lacrosse College List
http://college.usatoday.com/2015/05/04/these-are-the-best-mens-lacrosse-colleges-in-the-u-s/#slideIdslide-8 Was pleasantly surprised to see us included in this slideshow at link above as the number eight best college for men's lacrosse given our recent struggles. Ironically they used a 2006 photo of...

Re: Hofstra women's lax
The committee would never admit Stu but I was thinking same thing when I heard USC got bid. Much sexier name than Hofstra or Cornell. If Hofstra had just pulled out the semifinal game Friday there would have been little doubt of them getting bid, but they were living on edge for awhile with four one...

Re: Hofstra women's lax
Unfortunately Hofstra does not get an at-large bid and along with Cornell were the last two teams left out, according to Lacrosse Magazine. USC got last bid despite not having any top 20 RPI wins. Very hard to swallow, but hopefully a bright future ahead for this program.

Re: Hofstra women's lax
Brutal loss and I worry it is a season-ender. Still a chance of at-large with 26 teams now in field, but not counting on it since we only have that one top 20 RPI win. Possibly CAA would get two bids, but can't see three so we need JMU to win title to have any realistic shot.

Re: Hofstra women's lax
Hofstra is 17th in latest RPI with a SOS of 21. If they win Friday and lose in finals Sunday they will be one of the bubble teams being considered for an at-large. Re: Hofstra women's lax
Crazy to think that four of our six CAA wins were by one goal, but it also shows how team is able to get mentally tough when it matters most to win those close games. If team wants to win CAA though they will have to play far better than they did against Elon and Drexel though.

Re: 2015 Pride Mens Lacrosse
Incredibly frustrating season and four year-run. I feel bad for these seniors who seem like great character guys, but just could not get program over the hump when it mattered most. To not make CAAs three out of last four years and four of the last six is very hard to swallow.

Re: fringe sports like golf and tennis
I have heard the reason they don't have swimming is because they make a lot of money renting out the pool. One good thing about some of these sports is it can be a solid recruiting tool to bring some solid academic students to the school so a swimming team would do wonders in terms of that. I of cou...

Re: fringe sports like golf and tennis
I understand your point Stu, but we are required to have a minimum number of teams and these are not that expensive to operate so that is we have them.

Re: Softball 2015
Just looked up Maggie hawkins stats at NC State. After batting .335 and .348 in her freshman and soph years at Hofstra she is batting .230 with 8Hrs and 25 Rbis. This after driving in 53 and 48 at Hofstra. I hope she is happy where she is now but her production has fallen off. How come she didn't h...

Subway by Hofstra closed
I noticed yesterday when driving by Hofstra that the Subway close to the stadium was closed with a "for rent" sign. I'm surprised since it always seemed busy whenever I went there. Hopefully either a Subway with a new franchise owner opens or another good eatery replaces it.

Re: Hofstra baseball 2015
Tons of closes losses unfortunately. It is frustrating to be missing CAAs once again, but hard to get too hard on them when they compete in such a baseball-competitive conference. Expectations are much higher for lacrosse so them missing CAAs is hard to swallow, but can't say same for baseball.
