Re: MBB Roster for 2022-23
Agreed Sid. Maybe Boachie-Yiadem starts initially with the freshman working his way in. Maybe the frosh will make an immediate splash. This is the CAA and guards generally rule anyway. Hoping the freshman becomes the best big Hofstra has ever had. The depth chart was just challenged. Hope Tomasco is...

Re: MBB Recruits 2022
Marshall committed late. This was after Vazquez from St Bonaventure did not clear academically for HU. I believe that freed up a scholly late for Marshall. And last year would have been a good time to redshirt since we were guard heavy and minutes were scarce anyway. I hope he turns out to be an asse...

Re: MBB Recruits 2022
Verbal commits counts Marshall as a scholarship. What makes you think he is not?
I think if we had a scholly we would have signed Perry Smith.

I think we are out of scholarships. Unless somebody leaves, this is the squad going forward.

Re: MBB Recruits 2022
If the high school power forward from South Carolina commits we look very promising.
We have been on his final list for awhile. Would really complete the roster.

Hey Polito
Looks like we have your point guard.
6’6” German Plotnikov a Juco with 3 years of eligibility. Looks and sounds good.

Re: Transfer Portal
Sacred Heart has a former Hofstra coach on its staff. Kyle Steinglass I think is his name. I wonder if he recommended Thomas. Also I looked at his game stats and he hoisted a ton of shots at Sacred Heart. Plenty of games with 20+ shots. May have to not be such a volume shooter here. Hoping he is a g...

Estrada and St Peters and Dunbar at Iowa State both are thinking about what might have been for them.
Should be great motivation going forward.

Re: Transfer Portal
So Speedy will need to have another good run in the portal. He will need at least one stud guard from the portal to run with Estrada. Losing Cooks, Ray and Silverio are lots of minutes. Anybody have any insight into how promising the three bench guys besides Carlos are regarded? Need some inside inf...

Re: Transfers and Other Player News
He hasn't even gotten any garbage time this season. He sees the writing on the wall and probably wants to go someplace and play. Can't blame him for wanting to play. Good luck Zion.

Nice topic!
How about Charles Jenkins...didn't flee the floundering ship and carried a depleted team on his back?
How about the late Zeke Upshaw who boarded the Titanic after it hit the iceberg?

Is the possible basketball configuration a northern division with Monmouth and Stony Brook joining Hofstra NU Delaware and Drexel with a southern division of Hampton joining Elon W&M UNCW Charleston and Towson?

Re: MBB Game 19 at Northeastern: January 22 at 12:00 P.M.
I expect Northeastern to be a force by the end of the season. I don't know when Joe Pridgen is expected back but he is a player who will make a difference for them. I think we have more horses than they but as Speedy has lamented on more than one occasion, you better respect your opponents. This is ...

Re: Game 13 @Monmouth, 12/22/21, 7 PM
You may be right but I think the coaches want him down low with the injuries in the front court. They don’t need him shooting threes. He is a fine athlete and may be able to shoot the threes going forward. It is up to him. I remember Jason Kidd had no shot coming out of college. I am sure scouts sai...

Hey Polito Even Pitino can’t get Maryland into the top of the ACC since they play in the Big 10 now lol.
Those are mistakes I would make posting this at 1 am too so you are allowed a goof at that time.

Re: Catching Up with Chaz Williams
Thanks Jojo I feel like Chaz had a long association with Hofstra. I believe he may have committed to HU as a 9th grader , so we waited a long time for him to suit up for us. I wonder if Coach Pecora wishes he stayed right here instead of the mess at Fordham. If Chaz and the kid from Staten Island st...

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
More research on Amare Marshall; he and Zion Bethea were a high scoring guard combo at Immaculate Conception in 2020. This was Zion's senior year and Marshall's junior year. Amare took his senior year at Roselle Catholic in this crazy half year of high school basketball. This team also has a guard g...

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
I don't know anything about a walk on. I can tell you that the staff is impressed with the kid. Saw some high school stats for Marshall...not a big scorer but steals the ball and rebounds the ball. With the talent Speedy has there will be loads of competition for pt. Speedy wants to emphasize defens...

Re: MBB Recruits 2021
I think we have a new guard in the pipeline for this fall. I don't see anything official yet but expect to see Amare Marshall suiting up for us this season.. I think he played some with Zion at Immaculate Conception. I don;t know how this affects the roster going forward but rumors are that he is a ...
