Re: Singular Team Names of Our Opponents in the CAA Era
I assume this is all for men's basketball? I have a few, but definitely not all ten. The Orange, the Red Storm, the Crimson, the Thundering Herd, the Wolfpack, and the Green Wave are the singular ones I can think of. The Midshipmen and Minutemen are technically plurals, although they don't end in s,...

He also led the capital campaign coming out of the recession that pumped over $200 mil real dollars back into the endowment.Mikey77 wrote:Not to detract from Rabinowitz ' accomplishments, but the endowment spike is largely due to the bull stock market over the last ten years subsequent to the Great Recession.

Quinnipiac, by the way, averages 2,927 in a 3,086 arena for hockey. The rink and the basketball arena are actually connected and share restrooms and food services.

Also, as part of that compensation package, that the endowment went from $232 million in 2007 to $662 million at the end of August, and is a $561 million increase from 2002. At a time when other private schools in the area has to shut their doors, Hofstra only became even more financially stable.

President Rabinowitz retiring August 2021
In an email sent out by the school, they've announced that President Rabinowitz will be retiring at the end of his current contract, at the end of August, 2021. Love him or hate him, he made some major impacts on the school. Yes, football, but yes, three presidential debates, a medical school, a nur...

Re: ECAC eSports
You can call a women's club sport a varsity sport, but you have to offer it similar access to coaches, trainers, tutors, etc as the other sports. Obviously every sport doesn't get the same treatment, but funding generally have to come from the same source. It's pretty complex, because everything inv...

Re: LIU Athletics
One sad note- while most people heard of the stabbing of Clayton Beathard in Nashville and noted he's the brother of the 49ers QB and all that, what most didn't mention is that he was the QB for LIU this year before getting injured. Teammates are basically saying that he took a pounding as they made...

Re: Hofstra Arena/Mack 20-Year Anniversary
Although it has nothing to do with the anniversary, the team will be wearing 2000 throwback jerseys on Feb 8. That's cool, but then why not on Jan. 2 instead? Unless, the jerseys won't be ready until Feb? It’s part of the “winter homecoming” https://gohofstra.com/news/2019/10/23/general-ath-hofstra...

Re: What a shame
Ah, fair point HP1... but certainly not an impressive one. Barely noticeable. Should've been a statement maker considering the stink they made about football, money, and this new high stakes endeavor. But I have no issue at all with the med school, I'm a fan of the move. I just expected them to do ...

Schedule is out, and for the first time that I've ever seen, they're going to start the season in California. https://gohofstra.com/news/2019/11/12/sb-miller-reveals-2020-softball-schedule.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3gczfxyYdmv8_b1iLXxfXA10mkxwf-oMlR7E8gAnitjSxIewcJX3tzuHg The roster this year has 23 players, ...

The NCAA does handle the travel, and for non-revenue sports, the location absolutely does matter.

Re: 2020 Men's Lacrosse
I don't even think they're filling the dorms as is. They could probably renovate one of the houses in Colonial Square for that. Liberty/Republic was knocked down and never replaced, so I can't imagine there's a drastic need for dorm space.

Re: What a shame
Yes and no. They would need to add women's sports, yes. But it doesn't need to be hockey. Add swimming and water polo, both sports that facilities already exist on campus for. And ditch men's golf and tennis, two sports that use off-campus facilities and nobody would know if they were gone.

Re: What a shame
Most every school won't add a high cost program without some sort of financial backing to get it off the ground. The NHL, however, is willing to invest, and pay for the research. That being said, if the Nassau Coliseum is going to stay after the Islanders leave, they will be desperate for some sort ...
